I watched the sunset through the open window. I smiled. Then a wind blew through it and I quickly jumped down and shivered under my blankets. My skin prickled up and I giggled at the sensation. The door creaked open and I saw Kyte stride in, a smile on her face.

"That was quick. No luck?"

"No, well, it's kinda complicated."

Just then, a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I adjusted the pillow I was lying on and sat up.

It was Luna. She looked happy and sad at the same time.

"Hey, Bambi. I feel terrible saying this, but we have reluctantly realized that we.. can't really take care of you anymore," she looked up at me, tears welling in her eyes, and quickly glanced down as they fell to the floor, "we have realized that at 14 years old, you are ready to go and face the world. You will have to leave tonight, we are running out of food for dinner." She walked up and kissed my forehead and left as quickly as she came.

"Well, shit." I smiled and laughed out of surprise of what I just said and Kyte giggled and plopped down on the mattress next to me, and laid her head on my shoulder, and we watched he sun rise until there was not a trace of gold in the sky.
