GRACE

This was her standing, looking at herself in the mirror, donned in Demise's royal colors of black and purple. The black satin gown fell to the floor but didn't pool and was draped with a dark purple cape that fell behind her arms. She liked this dress. It was beautiful and cool. Stephan's lands were arid and dry. The sun would beat down on her far more than it did here within the capital. The dress had sleeves, but they were sheer and fell off her shoulders.

On her head, she wore the crown of the prima. A knock made her look away from herself and at the door to Goliath.

She smiled, stepped away, and removed the crown.

"The cars are ready."

"Alright. I will be out in a moment."

"Are you alright?"

She nodded. "Yes." It sounded hesitant even to her ears. She sighed. "I have no idea what I am doing."

Goliath walked in and took the crown from her. "It goes on your head."

"Ha. Ha. Funny. I feel...useless. Like a pawn in the kingdom. Not that Demise treats me as such. I just-"

"Grace, you just found out you're mates with Demise. It's alright to not know what to do."

"He seems to know everything."

"He's older than dirt, Grace."

She laughed and fell onto the bed. Goliath grabbed her by the arms. "Come with me."

"Where are we going," she groaned as he pulled her out of the room and outside. He took her to the back garden and then laid down like she was before. She joined him and gazed up at the cloud-covered sky. She smiled as the black cloak of the enforcer's armor tangled itself in Goliath's arm.

"Do you see those clouds?"

"I have CF; I'm not blind."

"Are you always this annoying?"

She chuckled. "No, but I am absolutely always this incredibly sexy."

"No comment." He pointed to a cloud right above them. "My mother used to tell me this story-"

"Oh my Gods, you have a mother?"

He rolled his eyes and continued. "She used to tell me this story about the sun and the moon. They fell in love and traveled the world together, but then the moon fell in love with the north star and now is always cursed to follow the sun and never be together again. Now let's forget about the adultery. You are the sun and Demise is the moon."

"Oh, nice, Demise is going to cheat on me-"

"I said forget about the adultery," he said, a groan flipping his tone. "Out of all the other planets and all the other stars, the moon fell in love with the sun."

"And then cheated on her-"

"Okay. Well, I said let's forget about the adultery. I am just saying that you and Demise are meant for each other. You two are soulmates. Partners. You are his equal and have been chosen to share his power. All of this, the entire Kingdom, the entire realm is under your control. And you are going to live for centuries and centuries, so it is alright to take a few decades to figure out how to do so effectively, but you deserve this position. It's your birthright. Don't be too hard on yourself."

She looked over at him and smiled softly. "Thank you, Goliath. You know besides the insinuation that my mate will cheat on me, it's a pretty sweet story."

"I tried." He gave up and threw his hands up.

The sun above her became dark as Demise loomed over her, his hands behind his back, and his brow arched. "What are you two doing?"
