These eight days I wanted to fly by,
My head was dancing around,
Soaring through a cloudy sky,
Bustling crowd in my mind surround,
When someone asked me, "What did you stumble upon on December 16?"

Morning was bright, winter air,
Sun was out of sight, no heated flare,
My mommy took me to our old place,
The taxi smelled so much like the new perfume,
It was too strong,
But we sat there talking out our issues.

We went there to see Benji,
He told me things I already knew,
I was weak and I wasn't ready,
For all that pain because it was new,
My first dose of reality.

They took me to the room,
Where I had to lay patiently,
My vein was lost but they found it,
Blood flew through the tool,
Then the metal infused,
The pain in my arms,
My hand so heavy, my head confused.

I thought I might die,
Tears welled up in my eyes,
My heart pumped faster,
I tried to tell myself lies,
I took a deep breath,
And let time fly.

I counted every drop,
Every second,
Every stop,
It was blinding,
It was dizzying,
Twenty minutes felt like twenty years.

Back at home,
In my room, my dad gave me a bracelet,
Rustic silver, shiny bloom, diamond killer, rounded gloom,
I swore to wear it for as I long as I can,
That's where I stumbled upon on December 16.
