LINKED

Chapter 2

Niklaus comes into the diner and notices his brother immediately. But as he sits down next to his brother he notices Abigail, "Who are you," he demands. "I'm Abigail Bennett," the woman says.  "And how do I know that I can trust you," Klaus demands. "Because I am the witch who desiccated Mikael," Abigail deadpans. Niklaus looks at Elijah who nods, "There is something else, brother," Elijah says, stopping him from leaving. "Ayanna has LINKED you to Abigail's daughter," Elijah says. "LINKED?" Klaus asks. "If you die, my daughter dies, and if my daughter dies, you will eventually go mad and want to kill yourself," Abigail explains. "Then your daughter is under my protection," Klaus says. 

"I don't think that you should trust him," Elena says turning to Abigail. "So when the Original Hybrid offers to protect someone I care about, your advice is to ignore it," Abigail deadpans. "Of course," Elena says.

Abigail sits in her hotel room, and she is on the phone with Rudy. "I told you, Rudy, I am not going to unlink them," Abigail says. "Because it would kill her," Abigail exclaims. 

"You were not so sure before," Elena says. "So she obviously studied the spell and the connection," Bonnie retorted backing her mother's decisions up.

Rudy is seen in the kitchen talking on the phone, "Abigail, if  you don't unlink them and you come back to Mystic Falls, I will tell the council about your family being a part of the supernatural," Rudy threatens. "Bonnie is a part of the supernatural as well," Abigail says trying to get her husband to see sense. "Bonnie has not shown her powers," Rudy says. 

"Oh my God," Bonnie says. 

After Rudy threatens the Bennett line if Abigail decides to show her face, Abigail hangs up and calls her mother Sheila Bennett to warn her. "Mom," Abigail says when the phone is picked up. "Abby," Sheila asks in a concerned tone, "Did it work?" she asks. "Mikael is desiccated just like Ayanna told me, but Rudy threatened the Bennett line if I come back," Abigail admits to her mother. "Sweetheart," Sheila whispers. "It will be okay, I will tell Bonnie about what happened," she adds. "Thank you," Abby replies. "Did you meet him," Sheila asks,  not needing to specify who she was talking about. "Yes, and his brother," Abigail replies. "He seems genuinely concerned for what could happen to her," Abigail says. "Good," Sheila replies.

"Concerned for himself more like," Elena mutters. Abigail rolls her eyes and Kol looks at the doppelganger. "You don't exactly have room to talk," he says.

After Abigail departed from them, the Original brothers Klaus and Elijah decided to catch up with one another and see what has happened in their life since the 1930's in Germany. "LINKED to a Bennett witch by Ayanna," Elijah whispers. "It certainly fits with Ayanna's past endeavors," Niklaus says. "You are talking about what happened in the tenth century," Elijah asks. Niklaus nods vaguely not truly wanting to get into it again. "You had no control, and Ayanna felt as if she owed it to us to tell," Elijah reassured his brother. 

"What is going on," Rebekah asks her brothers, each of them shrug not knowing what was not being said. 

"Have you had any luck tracking down the moonstone," Niklaus asks Elijah. The suited Original shakes his head hating to have to give his brother bad news. "What about you, any luck with Katerina Petrova," Elijah asks. "She was rumored to be in Mystic Falls in 1864 and when I sent vampires to go look for her they never came back," Niklaus says. "Apparently, a bunch of vampires were captured and imprisoned under an old church," Niklaus explains.

"Wait a second, you did not know about the vampires in the Fell church," Damon accuses. "Didn't I," Klaus asks. 

"There is also a new doppelganger," he says after a moment. "How," Elijah asks. "Apparently the reason Katerina was thrown out by her family was that she had a child out of wedlock," Niklaus explains to his older brother. "And how did you come across this information about the new doppelganger," Elijah asks. "A vampire named Isobel found me and begged me to be in my inner circle," Niklaus says. "She told me she had valuable information," he adds. "And the valuable information," Elijah asks. "That after she gave birth to the new doppelganger and gave her up for adoption and that she is currently living in Mystic Falls, her birth town," Niklaus explains. The hybrid smirks, "I know that facial expression, what are you planning," Elijah asks. "Well, it is no secret that you are more likable than myself, so how would you like to play a trick on the doppelganger," Niklaus asks. "What kind of trick," Elijah asks hesitantly, he had been around Niklaus and Kol for long enough to know when to be concerned. "Just pretend to be at odds with me until it is time for my curse to be broken and then when the time is right, we show them what 'Always and Forever' truly means," Niklaus says. Elijah nods, agreeing to the carefully thought out plan. 

"That does not sound like the Elijah I know," Elena complains. "And you know Elijah so well, right," Rebekah growls at the doppelganger. "He wanted to kill Klaus," Elena says pointing to Elijah sitting next to his sister.  "And I would never fall for something like that," she adds.

"What about the young Bennett," Elijah asks. "I am thinking that we are going to need someone else's help protecting her," Niklaus says. Elijah furrows his eyebrows not putting the pieces together. "Someone who might suddenly offer to help her with her magic far away from Mystic Falls, someone who could bring her to her mother," Niklaus adds. A look of realization crosses Elijah's face, there was only one person that Niklaus would trust to take care of Bonnie and make sure that she did not overexert her magic, Kol. 

"Me," Kol whispers.
