AN: Can some people confirm for me if this relationship is romantic enough cus I want it to be a 3am kicking your feet in your bed kind of thing but I don't know I think I'm making it too deep.

3rd pov:

Neteyam agreed with his father that at least for the time being, the two would not mate, some hard truths came from Neteyam today and he can't help but feel like he's damged his relationship with his father, he had this conversation with Kolanan before in one of their late night talks.

She reassured him by saying if Jake didn't love Neteyam the same when he was himself and truthful then his love was never worth much to begin with.

Neteyam was comforted by this but he still felt some guilt, he had probably hurt his mother's feelings too, but right now he was carrying Kolanan to their cave. He told his family he was taking her to bed but truth be told he wanted to make sure she was alright and be with her without being disturbed by anyone else.

The logical side of Neteyam told him that he had known this girl for barely a month but he was willing to hurt his family for her, it was insane and wrong.

But when he looked at her, when he smelled that familiar sweet scent, when he thought of her, when he tasted her lips. He knew there was nothing he wouldn't give to hold her close.

He pushed her through the crevice first, following soon after and making sure to lower her gently to the floor, Neteyam carried Kolanan bridal style, his thumb lightly grazing the new scar on her back in an up and down motion as he waded through the water , stopping in the middle of the length from the tree to the edge.

The colours flowed around her deep blue skin, it was quite a bit darker than his, but it glowed so bright, like moonlight shone through her body.

Her long black hair floated in elegant and wispy patterns flowing with the light movements of the water.

Next thing he knew Neteyam was watching intently as Kolanan's eyes slowly opened, the girl was not panicked at all, she recognised the man holding her and the place she was in before she could be startled.

"Neteyam, you're ok." She weakly smiled, reaching her hand up to touch his face, glad he wasn't hurt.

"Yes, once again thanks to you." He laughed lightly, placing his hand on top of hers, leaning his head slightly into her touch.

"I thought I lost you again, I thought I was too late." She started to choke up, as if it couldn't any more, Neteyam's heart swelled in empathy, he was so scared when she stopped breathing.

"No, no, I'm right here, you saved me, you protected me, which reminds me I have something to tell you."

"I heard."

"What?"

"I could hear everything, I just couldn't seem to move." She moved to stand herself, the water supporting her initially shaky stance, Neteyam held her hips as well to keep her up, a touch Kolanan seemed to never be able to get used to.

"Everything?" Neteyam felt sick to his stomach, she heard the argument sure, but even worse, he heard him saying he loved her, he didn't want to scare her off, even if he was pretty sure it was reciprocated, he had only just gotten her to say she likes him, even when they kissed on the first night.

"Too soon?" He scratched his head nervously, a habit of his Kolanan had picked up on, whenever Neteyam was shy, anxious or conflicted he would scratch his head.

"No!" She said a bit too enthusiastically, startling the young man, Kolanan blushed deeply, clearing her throat to start again, "I mean no it's just I...I want to...I mean I can't...no I mean...what do I mean?" She groaned loudly at her struggle to get out her words, putting her head in her hands, afraid she was hurting Neteyam's feelings, pushing him away or making him think she didn't love him, because she probably loved the tree hugger too much.
