New York, United States.

Edmund Styles was walking through the streets of the great city of New York. He had traveled from Holmes Chapel for an important job interview that would help him get ahead. Being a man of few economic resources, he agreed to attend without thinking twice about his actions, he knew that he needed that job to be able to buy a house and a car, and to finally leave his parents' house to be the alpha everyone had expected him to be, and suddenly he bought the cheapest plane ticket he could find and flew to one of the most famous cities of America.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Styles.'' Greeted an alpha much older than him. He was wearing an expensive blue suit and in his hand he carried a Rolex. He shook Ed's hand and motioned for him to sit down. "It seems better to me if we review your resume. In this company we are looking for alphas willing to work and with a desire for entrepreneurship."

He reviewed some of the things that he said in that paper that Ed had done. He did not have any studies in prestigious schools nor did he have experience in the business area, but he could quickly learn anything. He only had experience working as a mechanic and as a cashier in some self-service stores. The alpha looked up from the paper and sighed. Ed immediately knew it was bad news.

"Edmund," he began, "it shows that you want to work and you seem to be a good man, but we are looking for people with degrees. You don't even have a degree in this, and I doubt very much that you can help us in the company."

"Sir, I promise you that I will learn things quickly. I can enter the university again to study business, and in time I will show you that I am an alpha worthy of employment. I am young and I still have a long way to go and..." The alpha raised his hand signaling him to be silent, the alpha clenched his jaw and looked down.

"I appreciate your visit, Mr. Styles." Edmund sighed and with a slight nod and a demotivated smile left the man's office.

What would he do now? He had spent half of the savings he had on that trip to New York and now he had to come back with no job and no money. He regretted every step he took. How had he been so naive to believe that they would give him a job in that company if he didn't even have money to buy an elegant suit? He left the building and walked the streets as he thought about what he should do. He didn't have too many options but he could make a plan. He could look for a temporary job in the city to get some money and not return empty handed or he could give up and wait for the day his parents kicked him out of the house.

And at that moment, his phone began to ring. He clumsily pulled it out of his pants and looked at the screen, it was his girlfriend, he sighed and answered the call.

"Hello beautiful. What are you doing, calling me from all the way there?" He said feigning joy, but a fearful cry from the other side of the line made him pale. "Jane? Are you OK?"

"Ed, we need to talk," the girl sobbed, "I... I'm..." Her crying was heartbreaking, and stopped her from finishing what she was about to say.

"What is it? Did something happen? Are you okay?" Ed's concern increased with each passing second and the cries of his partner didn't help much. After a few minutes the omega's voice was heard again.

"Ed, I'm pregnant... What are we going to do? You haven't even bitten me yet, and you don't have a job." Jane whimpered and the alpha's heart stopped for a moment. "How are we going to take care of a baby if we can't even take care of ourselves?"

Both remained silent for a few minutes, neither knew what to do. Their lives were ruined and, although they were overthinking the situation, they needed to plan what to do, because after all there was no turning back. They were going to be parents.
