"Jade?" a familiar voice says.

i look up to see Jim Hopper, the chief of police.

"oh um hey." i say, trying to regain focus,

it feels like it's been hours. i've been so worried about Billy.

"don't tell me you're here for Hargrove." he says with a laugh, yet a stern look on his face.

i gulp. "yeah.. i am." i say timidly with a shrug,

"come on." he says, gesturing for me to get up.

we walk into his office, when i see Billy; slouched down in an uncomfortable looking, burnt orange chair.

he looks up at me, and i look back with a 'what did you do' kind of look.

"go on, sit." Hopper says, almost like an order.

still, i don't question him. i sit down in the chair next to Billy, staring at my beat up converse.

"what the hell happened earlier?" Hopper questions, sitting down.

Billy and i look at one another.

"i-" i say, trying to form the words.

"you what kid?" Hopper replies, stern look on his face.

i know that i need to tell him.

"in um, october, Jason threw a party.." i say, taking a deep breath. "i went outside, and uh,"

Hopper cuts me off. "what were you doing outside?" he questions.

i sigh. "i was smoking. but that isn't the point" i tell him.

"tell him the rest." Billy says with an angry look on his face.

"Jason came out, and he um, tried to kiss me." i say, tears swelling in my eyes.

"so Hargrove, you were feeling territorial? hm?" Hopper smirks.

"that's not all" i say.

"then get on with it, tell me the rest." he says, annoyed.

"i pushed him off, told him i didn't see him that way. but uh, he didn't stop." i say, looking down.

this is bringing it up all over again. everything i've pushed away from that night. but i know i need to spit it out.

"he pinned me against the garage, he wouldn't stop. i mean, if one thing went differently.." i say, wiping a fallen tear off my cheek.

"my officers where at the party that night, some fight.. involving Jason." Hopper says, looking down.

"alright Hargrove, go wait. you're free to go." Hopper says to Billy.

he looks at me sympathetically, before walking out.

"look, kid for what it's worth i'm sorry this happened to you." Hopper says.

"thank you.." i reply.

"and if you, or your mom or Dustin ever need anything, just call me." he says, standing up.

"it's okay, really." i say.

"it's what your dad would've wanted." he says, putting a hand on my shoulder.

"yeah, okay. thanks Hop." i say, giving him a weak smile before walking out of his office, into the hall.

i'm going to kill Billy Hargrove.
