“How did I let myself become this,” Ella groaned as she dramatically fell over from her place on Rose’s bed and screamed into a pillow as the blonde softly rubbed her back.

“You know it’s not so bad,” she consoled, Ella shifted her head so she was able to see her friend through her hair, Rose answered how the brunette knew she would. “Love, you’re in love with the Doctor El,” causing a grimace at what could only be the truth.

“Love … that sucks. You remember what happened the last time I fell in love?” Ella sat up and didn’t move her hair from her face, but she could still see Rose as she silently nodded her head, the blonde recalled that experience all too well. “Turns out my poor boyfriend got scooped out and was replaced by an alien … hmm, I guess I have a type.” Ella mused and caught the look Rose was giving her which forced a beaming smile to grace her face as the two burst out into uncontrollable laughter.

“That’s terrible, should we be laughing at this,” the two glanced at each other again and another round of giggles broke out. At the movement that came with the laughter the remaining hair fell out of Ella’s face and the girls calmed down after a couple of minutes.

“Probably not but it’s my trauma and I guess it is true. Maybe humans aren’t my thing,” it wasn’t a thought Ella gave much merit to considering she did date a few good humans.

“Okay but can I just ask …” Rose waited a few seconds for her to decline or not, “are you really surprised this is what it led to?” At Ella’s confused expression Rose continued, “you’ve been infatuated with him since he blew up our jobs.” Ella’s mouth opened in protest, but she closed it right away and started thinking rationally about it.

“Okay, technically that’s true but so were you!”

“Of course, who just blows up a building so casually? But you,” Rose said with so much emphasis Ella knew where she was going, “wanted to jump him since he gave us that earth revolving speech. Don’t even lie to me, El I saw how you were looking at each other. It was like you were having a conversation only the two of you could hear. It was honestly kind of gross and cute at the same time.” Ella couldn’t help her smile at Rose’s words because the blonde was only being honest.

“So, I’m in love,” Ella accepted the truth. “Where the hell am I supposed to go from here,” Rose shrugged, “you’re a big help.”

“Why do you have to do anything? Just stay where you are,” Ella raised an eyebrow in question, “at his side.” The brunette thought about that answer, it makes sense as anything else, he still needs someone, and I want to keep being his someone for as long as I can.

Later that night Ella dragged the Doctor into the Tyler’s apartment for dinner, “okay! Jackie’s cooking but I still don’t see why I have to go,” he grumbled as the brunette kept tugging on his hand.

“I know you’re not a huge fan of domestics, but you let me cook for you all the time and besides this will help,” the Doctor gazed into her pleading eyes and sighed as he nodded his head and stopped fighting her to go back to the Tardis. Ella beamed at him and threw her arms around his shoulders and pulled him down for a kiss, during the small touch the Doctor got a glimpse of what she and Rose talked about which caused his cheeks to warm up.

“Ah, ah, ah, I don’t need to see that!” Ella pulled away as she instantly recognized the voice speaking.

“Sorry, dad.” She turned back to the Doctor and nodded her head for him to go inside while she stayed out with her dad for a second. Leon gently pulled a half empty pack of cigarettes from his pants pocket, and he lit one and handed the pack to her, the gesture seeming almost natural. Ella hesitated before giving in and grabbing one, her grandma’s words echoing in her head, tobacco is sacred you must never refuse it.
