𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘆-𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 and cold, seeing as he must of kicked his blankets off himself during the night. at first, he didn't think much of it, it was common for him to wake up in this state — then the sudden reels of the morning prior began playing visuals throughout his head and suddenly — he could feel the clutching of y / n hands to his frame as if she would be pulled away. Matt languidly turned to his side, reaching for her — she wasn't there. he officially lost his mind. he couldn't decipher whether or not it was all a dream.

Matt sat up slowly, feeling a pain through his torso — realizing why he had stayed in bed half the day as he glanced at his clock, gently pushing himself off the bed, Matt ran his hand through his hair to move the stray strands off his face. he squinted a bit as he adjusted to the light as he walked into his kitchen, spotting her sitting at the kitchen table beside Nick who had finally come home — he wasn't completely unstable after all.

Nick noticed Matt in the corridor before y /n had, "good morning Matty." Nick spoke obnoxiously, ringing through Matts ears causing a pulse to start in his head, y / n eyes met with his.

"sorry for abandoning you." y / n spoke softly after noticing Matt flinching at nicks words. nick hid his grin after knowing y / n had spent the night — in Matts room. "it's okay, usually i wake up easier, I must of been out pretty good." Matt said with a rasp to his voice — still processing waking up, speaking quietly. "you were, you snored and everything." Matt feigned embarrassment as he gradually made his way to the kitchen table — sitting next to her with Nick across from them. "oh wow — thanks for that. i'm literally never sleeping again, especially with you around." y / n rolled her eyes playfully and Nick huffed a laugh, "are you feeling better?" Nick spoke — looking up from his phone to y / n and Matt looking at each other — giggling at old videos on his phone. "i'm feeling much better, my chest still hurts — but not as much as yesterday." y / n eyes widened "your chest was hurting and you let me lay on you? i'm sorry Matt" and both Nick and Matt smiled.

promptly shaking his head, stifling a soft laugh, "no, no truly — it was fine. I, umm — didn't mind at all, didn't even hurt — made me feel better, actually. a lot." y / n pale cheeks turned red, "you could of at least told me." she said through a smile gazing toward Matt as he spoke, "I didn't want to talk." he said with mockery, rising his eyebrows — taking a sip of his root-beer. "probably for the best, we were both tired after a long night of fun." Matt quickly added before Nick spoke out, "woah! — thats not something I want to hear the first thing in the morning, especially from my brother and best friend." Matt rolled his eyes, "not like that dipshit." and Nick just nodded — not totally convinced.

y / n and Matt were back in his room, sitting back in his bed, turning on his tv. "are you okay?" Matt gazed toward y / n, as he asked her genuinely. he saw her curled by the headboard to herself — wanting to reach out for her, to trail his fingers along to hers — intertwining them with his own. intrusive thoughts. "i'm fine y'know...I just wish things would have gone smoother." Matt nodded, "its a lot to think about and so much all at once — all of it ended up being a fucking painful shit show." Matt stated, watching y / n unfold from her previous position, moving closer to him. Matt meant to add to his statement but was interrupted by his own thoughts as he noticed his journal on his desk — wasn't in the position he left it in. his brows knitted slowly, glancing at the girl, who was preoccupied tracing her fingerings along the pattern of the blanket she was under. Matt knew It was no mistake that it had been in that position, he never once sat it in a different position every time — he always did.
