The alarm went off, echoing in the silent room, where Adelyn was snuggled against Kai and almost pushed off from the bed.

She quickly shuts the alarm off and looks around, trying to wake up and remember what happened last night.

She remembers her call with Blythe where they were discussing the last few points on their presentation on docs presentation so Blake could add his part of the work later, and then Kai started throwing a tantrum.

They had dinner, and watched TV for a while and he fell asleep in between, and then she laid in bed with him and ended up falling asleep.

Adelyn didn't know if her mom had come back home already, but seeing as though she hadn't gotten any texts from her that she'd be staying the night shift, she was probably already in her room and fast asleep.

Leaving the night light on, Blythe walks out of the room, yawning and wondering why she set the alarm for AM when it should've been PM. She needs to start focusing better.

She knocks on her parent's bedroom door, hearing nothing at all, she twists the knob and the door creaks open.

"Mama? Did you get home fine last night?"

With the bit of sunlight poking through the window, she sees that the bed is still made and no uniform is spread on the bed. She turns the lights on and there's nothing there, it's the way the maid left the room yesterday.

Did she even get home last night?

She hears something in the living room and she freezes, trying to remember if she locked the main door and back door, the windows and the balcony.

Everything was locked. She knows, she ticked it last night on her to-do list.

She rushes to her dad's closet and takes off her necklace that had her key to his drawer, opening it she takes the gun out, looking behind her to see if no one's there.

Her breathing was getting shallower now, but she couldn't stop now, Kai was asleep, her mother was probably still at the hospital and her dad was out of country for business.

So she sent out a text to their group chat and the moment it's sent off, she hears it. She hears a ping and she stops. Cold water being thrown on her.

She's stuck and her heart starts hammering faster against her chest.

She calls her mom.

And she hears ringing. And she cuts it off just as fast, running back to Kai's room and locks the door, sitting by the door.

Her phone starts ringing and she screams, shaking on the floor, she threw the gun she had a few feet away from her.

"Papa? Papa I don't know what's going on, I'm scared." She starts blurting out as soon as she picks up her dad's call.

"Take deep breaths honey, tell me what's going on, from the top, ok? Deep breaths first." Her dad's voice speaks through the phone and she breaks, sobs breaking apart.
