~Jane's POV~

I can't wait to go to dinner with my mate tonight, thank god I have that ring that makes me more human. I look and can act like a human-see a century ago I saved this witches child, she gave me a gold ring so that I could interact and be around humans more. Aro doesn't know, no one does but that's because I want to do this one thing on my own. I like to interact with humans every now and then since I find them interesting.

(Ring)

See I'm in New York on vacation, every century I go out of the Volturi castle to go to some county and spend a few months there before going back and being one half of the witch twins pair. A few months back I came with Demetri to check up on Carlisle Cullen and his coven, it seems they have disbanded for the moment. His coven mates are all around the world right now, made mine and Demetri's lives a bit more complicated since we needed to check on each one making sure nothing is out of the ordinary. That Edward Cullen, ugh! If I was a human, shoot me-I mean that boy does not know the term of respect, we are both the same age when we died but at least I do not act like a child. He is one overgrown child that needs to be disciplined more. It's like when he saw us, he was scared but not in the same way as most normally are...it's like he has a secret. We shall see in time.

But right now, my main focus is getting ready for my date with Ryker. I swear when I first met him, I wanted to turn him then and there until he ran off when something important had come up-I wonder what? Maybe I'll find out on our date.

When I returned back to Volterra, I couldn't stop thinking about Ryker. His alluring scent of cinnamon, bourbon and musk-I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Alec asked me once about it, but I brushed him off which I never do but I don't know...when I think about Ryker I don't normally do what I normally do. I mean hiding things from Alec, I don't do that-or I didn't until now. His mate-Callista. Sweet girl, not a single mean bone in her body. She has pale skin, red hair and red eyes but like I said she's so nice. I mean, the thought of harming a fly makes her feel horrible. She has the power of Indomitable Compassion which means she brings out compassion to those even with the most hateful hearts. Alec always worries about her, especially when he has to go on missions that Callista is made to stay with the wives-when Callista asked me, I didn't say a word to her about it and luckily she didn't push.

When my phone goes off, I see it's from Alec so I answer it "Brother" putting on my dress after I put on some pink lipstick.

"Sister" he greets "How is New York?"

"The same" I answer zipping my dress up from the top since my dress shows off my back "the humans have not changed that much since I was here a few months back"

"Hmm"

"Hi Jane!" I hear Callista's voice ring through "oh I hope your enjoying yourself more than before-maybe I should have gone with. I hear there are many eligible men in New York" we hear Alec grow when she says that "Oh honey" Callista sighs "I meant for Jane" shaking my head I stare at myself in the mirror. Right now I decided to wear a long black dress that stops at my knee caps, my hair is up in a bun as it is a lot of the time and I'm wearing some smokey eye like before but I have on some pink lipstick and not red. For shoes I chose simple black heels and I have on a pair of earrings.

(Jane isn't wearing the ring)

"I'm good Callista" I answer "now, if you'll excuse me I'm about to go watch humans mingle with each other in a bar-see if times have changed with people's awkwardness" hanging up.

Hearing a knock at the door, I go over to answer it to see Ryker there in a black suit with a white dress shirt. No tie, a few buttons are loose to show his bare chest from what I can tell. "Wow...you look stunning Jane" he holds out a bouquet of pink roses with a few pink carnations "I got you these"

"Thank you" taking them "come in" he walks into my room, closing the door "I'll find something to put these in" I go to the bathroom and use the plastic cup, fill it with water before placing the flowers in it. I'll get a vase tomorrow. Leaving, I see Ryker staring at me "do I have something on my face?"

"Sorry" shaking his head "you just...you look so-I don't even have words" I smile at my mates words to me. He offers his arm "shall we?"

Taking my black wallet purse "we shall"
