she wrinkled and
grew fragile against
my touch.

my skin, tight
my bones, young
my face, unchanging
she grew.
she knew.
her future was
to be short-lived.
mine was another story.
a long,
sad story.
full of death,
mistrust,
hurt,
all
mine.
a future I couldn't
do anything about.
a future
she wouldn't
be in.
why can't i
be with the one
i love
for all
eternity.
