"You coming to the game tonight?" I hear a voice whisper in my ear from behind, the familiar feeling of Shawn's arm snaking around my waist bringing the usual butterflies to my stomach.

"I don't know, Shawn, I have a ton of homework," I sighed, frowning from guilt. Of course wanted to be there for his big football game tonight, but finals were getting way too close for me to start slacking off.

Shawn pouted and batted his eyelashes down at me, "Please, baby? You're my lucky charm. We'll only win if you're there," he begged, peering at me with hopeful eyes. I pursed my lips in thought, then finally muttered a 'fine' when he continued to give me his signature puppy dog look.

Smirking, he pecked my lips in satisfaction.

"Good. I'll see you there."

"I hate sports," I groaned, bright lights blinding me as I took a seat on the bleachers, near the edge of the field. My best friend, y/b/f/n, elbowed me in the side, giving me a stare.

"You're here to support your boyfriend, now stop complaining and enjoy it," she says through a mouthful of popcorn, laying back and kicking her legs up. I rolled my eyes and continued to grimace. Why did Shawn want me out here so bad anyways?

As time passed, though, I seemed to relax and let go for a bit, forgetting about studying and school. Maybe this was good for me. I was always so caught up with making perfect grades, that I barely made time for my boyfriend.

Soon enough, the boys came running through and the game began. The first thing Shawn did was make eye contact with me and blow a kiss in my direction, leaving me to wonder how in the world he could find me so
easily in such a huge crowd. It was almost like he had a sixth sense.

I stuck my tongue out in response, earning a big smile from him before he pulled his helmet back on and continued with his running and shouting and throwing. I would never understand football.

He was amazing as always, scoring touchdown after touchdown, bringing the schools points up by tens and twenties, and I didn't expect any less. Shawn was the star quarterback for Richardson High School, never failing to help win every single game for his team. This game was a little different however, because it seemed like he was working twice as hard out on the field, cheeks a crimson red, sweat soaking his hair and clothes. (a/n: shawn playing football makes me wanna fucking stab myself)

During the near end of fourth quarter is when it started to get really strange. We were winning 23-2, but coach called all of the boys off the field and back into the building before the game was even over. Shawn was the only player left on the large green field, and he swiftly jogged into the center after sliding his helmet off and taking the microphone into his hands.

Y/b/f/n tapped my shoulder, giving me a questioning look, and all I could really do was look back at her and shrug. I was just about as clueless as she was.

"So, uh, this may be a little weird," Shawn chuckled, his voice booming throughout the entire area, "and I apologize for cutting the game short, but there's something I need to do."

"There's this girl. She's the most stunning person I've ever laid eyes on, and the most genuine human being I've been fortunate enough to get to know. Meeting her was a blessing, and being able to call her mine is like a privilege. Without her, God knows where I would be right now," he said quietly, locking eyes with mine immediately. Tears glistened in his soft brown eyes as he gave me a small smile.

"Can y/n y/l/n please come down here?"

My heart pounded from excitement as I began walking down the steps of the bleachers, veins pumped with adrenaline. My foggy mind nearly made me trip a few times, but I was able to steady myself before I completely mortified myself in front of hundreds.

When I'd finally gotten to where he stand, all eyes were on me. Envious glares from girls and wide smirks from guys burned a hole in the back of my head, but I could care less. My attention was only on the beautiful boy in front of me in that moment.

"I love you more than words could ever explain, and I can only hope that you feel the same. You've made my four years of high school unexplainably amazing, baby, and all I want to do is end it with you, and you only," he confessed, grin taking over his lips when one of his friends handed him a bundle of red tulips.

"So, will you go to prom with me?" he questioned nervously, biting his rosy lips in anticipation. I gasped quietly and covered my lips with my hand, looking down at his hopeful eyes as four players stood behind him, holding signs to spell out, "Prom?"

I couldn't even speak, nor move right then and there, almost like I'd forgotten the entire english language and how to move my bones. All I remembered was one thing, though, and that was yes.

Nodding my head with no hesitation, I jumped into his arms as the crowd cheered, not caring much about the stench of sweat radiating off of him.

"I love you so much, Shawn," I whispered into his ear, squeezing him tight to show him I really did mean it.

"Lucky bitch!" I hear my best friend holler from above, giving me a knowing smirk. Shawn and I threw our heads back in laughter, closing my eyes as he kissed me hard after everyone quieted down.

"I definitely am one lucky bitch."
