"Y/N, you better get your ass down here quick, before someone dies," Matt hisses from the other side of the line, leaving me to stand alone in my room, completely out of words.

"Matt, what are you talking about, who's going to die?" I question with a shaky voice, finally realizing what exactly was happening as I slipped on my converse and snatched my keys from the small table beside my bed.

"You know where Shawn likes to hang out, right? Behind the school parking lot?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm on my way," I assured, roughly shoving my keys into the ignition, hearing the vehicle buzz to life. I was half way out of my driveway, ready to click the end button when Matt's voice called out,

"Oh, and Y/N, I would suggest stopping at the drugstore and buying some bandages. Bringing an ambulance with you would work too."

***

"Fuck, fuck, fuck," I whispered to myself as I hopped out of my car, heart beating faster and faster as I laid eyes on the scene laid out in front of me.

A crowd of at least fifty people surrounded the corner of an abandoned shop, all of them with phones grasped in their hands, looks of pure shock plastered onto their faces. As I neared them, I'm sure my features mirrored theirs as I stared at the two boys in front of me, a writhing mess on the dirty concrete of the usually empty area.

Shawn was messily scrawled atop of Cameron's shaking body, the two with only basketball shorts covering their skin, both hands clenched into tight fists, pounding over and over again at his already bleeding face.

"She's mine, asshole, you got that?" Shawn spat, his actions failing to stop even once, continuing to leave marks all over Cameron's arms, chests and face.

My throat tightened when Shawn shot up on both feet, circling his opponent slowly, not bothering to look up at anything but Cameron. I was worried sick on what he would do next.

If you were to take a look at Shawn's past on a single sheet of paper, nothing good could possibly have been listed on it. He was the kid who would always get into fights, over the smallest of things, just for the hell of it. He loved the extreme adrenaline that came out of every blow to the face, and the bragging rights that were granted if he won, which he did. Every single time.

I didn't know why I still loved him, why I still dated him. Maybe it was because there was a completely different side to him, one he allowed only I to see, as cliche as it might sound. He treated me like a princess, like every single girl should be treated. It didn't take me more than a few weeks to fall head over heels for the boy.

My thoughts were interrupted by the deep, agonizing groan leaving someone's throat as Shawn's foot left their stomach. A large, purplish bruise was forming in the middle of Cameron's abdomen as he clutched his tummy in pain, eyes squeezed shut as if holding on for dear life.

"Shawn, quit it!" I screamed, forcefully pushing through the sea of teenagers, worried that someone really would die if I didn't stop it sooner. His entire body seemed to stiffen as his head shot up, bloody lips parting when he saw me running towards him.

"Come on, baby, please don't do anything else you'll regret," I plead, taking ahold of his arm, trying my best to pull him out and away from this mess. He bit down on his teeth, causing the muscles in his jaw to be prominent as he flared his nostrils and stared down at me with an indecisive mixture of guilt and anger swirling about in his soft brown eyes.

It took him a few seconds to comply before he gave one last shove to Cameron's still body lain on the ground, following me to my jeep as the crowd let out a disappointed 'aww,' proceeding to disappear from the site, as if nothing ever happened.

He sat down on the hood of the black automobile, playing with his trembling fingers, continuing to gaze down at his bare feel sheepishly as I pulled the drugstore bag from the front seat. Sighing, I emptied out its many contents, poking around for the rubbing alcohol and cotton balls before soaking one of them in the pungent liquid.

I took a look at his face, the soft, pale skin patterned with cuts and bruises, legs and torso to match. Tears welled up in my eyes as I shook my head back and forth, tired of this constant fighting.

"Why do you do this shit, Shawn? Seeing you like this hurts me," I whispered, the sight of his bloody injuries far too much for me to handle. There were four cuts on his face, two on his forehead, one on his cheek, and another lining his lip, the thick, red substance oozing out of it.

"This is going to sting," I muttered, titling his chin up with my index finger, pressing the cool cotton to his lip. He sucked in a sharp breath of air, hissing as I did the same to all of the other cuts on his face.

I slowly went down to the even larger ones marking the surface of his chest and biceps, cheeks heating up as he stared down at me intensively while I took care of his wounds, like I did every fight. I made sure to take care of each one gently, wrapping them all in gauze after smearing ointment around the lesion.

I knew he only trusted me to take care of him after the scraps he caused, because he wouldn't let anyone else touch him but I. Not his parents, not even a doctor, no one else but me.

After cleaning the wounds, I covered them each with a bandaid to prevent further damage to his beautiful face, sliding the back of my hand along his cheek, kissing his forehead, then sitting beside him on the hot metal, taking his and in my own.

"He said that you were going to leave me for him," he mumbled, looking up at me through his thick eyelashes, "A-And I knew it wasn't true, but I don't know, something in me just snapped, and I-" he cried, a loud sob cutting off his words. I wrapped my arms around him, bringing his aching body closer to mine as I whispered small hushes into his ear.

"I can't even explain how terrified I am of losing you," he breathed, grasp on my small body tightening with every word, "You're my everything."

This was the first time I'd seen him like this, in such pain, so naive, so vulnerable. I scoffed and pulled away quickly, gripping the sides of his face with both palms, forcing him to finally look me in the eye.

"Baby, no," I lightly chuckled, "You aren't going to lose me, you're never going to lose me. I don't plan on going anywhere except for where you are, ever. I love you, Shawn, beat up or not, remember that."

He nodded quickly, pulling me to his bare chest once again and kissing the top of my head, running his long fingers through my locks, muscles flexing in the process.

"I'm sorry for beating the shit out of Cameron. He kind of deserved it though," he mumbled into my hair.

I laughed, pulling away.

"I never knew my Shawn was such a badass boy," I joked, pressing my lips to his.

"Well, if I'm a badass boy, that makes you my badass girl, doesn't it?"
