Chapter 25 (The Worst Has Yet To Come)

AT THE HOSPITAL

Anna walks up to the receptionist desk.

Anna: hey can I get the file on Brandon Fern?

Nurse: yes.

The nurse goes through the files.

Nurse: here you go.

She hands Anna the file.

Anna: he said hes been having some headaches since his surgery last week.

Nurse: how did his surgery go?

Anna: good, he lost a lot of blood, but we had bags ready to use.

Nurse: maybe hes not getting enough blood to his brain?

Anna: maybe, im gonna take him to-.

Doctors come running in with Han on a stretcher. Finn and Vera run in behind them.

Finn: HELP HIM!

Vera: Finn calm down.

Anna runs over to them.

Anna: what happened?

Finn: someone shot him in the fucking chest.

Anna: take him to OR three, Finn, im going to try my best to save him.

They go to the OR. More doctors and Zane come running in with blood all over him.

Vera: Zane, what happened?

Zane: someone stabbed Benji, i dont think hes gonna make it, they-, they stabbed him in his throat.

Finn: someone shot Han.

Vera: calm down guys, Anna is goin to try her best to save both of them.

Finn: how?

Vera: because she just will, come on let's go sit down.

Finn: I don't want this on the news, I can't right now.

Vera: baby, I won't go into work, I'll stay right here with you.

They go sit down.

A FEW HOURS LATER

Anna walks into the waiting room. Vera walks over to her.

Vera: the boys are asleep, how're Han and Ben?

Anna: neither of them made it, I'm so sorry, we tried our best.

Vera: okay, uhm, do you think Finns going to be okay?

Anna: I'm not sure, just be there for him, okay?

Vera: I'll try.

Finn wakes up. He gets up and goes over to them.

Finn: how is he?

Anna: Finn, I'm so sorry.

Finn burst out crying. Anna hugs him.

Anna: we tried everything, there was too much damage, I'm so sorry Finn, I'm so sorry.

TWO WEEKS LATER AT THE FUNERALS

Leslie walks up to the stage.
