The next few days Tawn spent most of her time with the girls. Kiri and Tuk now always followed her if they had nothing better to do. Tawn wasn't complaining. She enjoyed their presence, of course.
Tawn noticed how her niece and nephew also grew closer to the Sully siblings. Aonung and Lo'ak seemed to have reached an understanding, and now the kids were inseparable.
After the accident, Aonung got his punishment from Tonowari and Ronal, and Tawn could safely say that he was punished fairly. Tonowari threatened to give his title of Olo'eyktan to another warrior, far more deserving than him, if he kept that up.
While the conflict between the children was resolved, her conflict with herself did not.
Tawn was still fighting her feelings, and it didn't help that he was always there whenever she was near his children, and that was a lot. He always stood there, with the same softness in his eyes and a slight smile sitting comfortably on his face watching his children spend the days with her.
Neteyam and Kiri knew something was happening between Jake and Tawn, and they were actually excited to see their relationship grow into something more. They were their number one shipper.
Sometimes, Kiri and Neteyam hatched a plan to bring both adults together, but it seemed like they tried everything in their power not to be together alone. Something was constantly pulling them apart, whether it'd be one of Tawn's students dragging her away or Jake having to hunt with Tonowari and the other warriors.
It wasn't intentional or anything. Duties just got in the way.
Like right now, Neteyam was asking her to come hunting with him and his father, but Tawn had to stay inland because she made plans with the village ladies for a crafting class.
They were making a rug for their home. Tawn enjoyed this kind of class. She enjoyed chatting with the ladies, giggling over a new eye candy of the month and gossiping about the neighbouring village or some poor fellow they set their eyes on.
It was fun to talk to them. Tawn sometimes made use of their wisdom and asked the ladies for advice, or the past few days, Tawn loved to indulge in gossip and sprinkled in some new information about a particular fellow.
"Yeah, imagine my surprise when I found out he's a widow," one of the ladies, Hue'iì, said dramatically.
The others nodded, "I know, poor guy, all that gifts from Eywa went to waste if he cannot keep his mate by his side," another one, O'etxä, added.
Tawn rolled her eyes at the ladies. Sometimes the ladies annoyed her with their sharp tongues and hurtful gossip, and this was one of those times.
This has nothing to do with Jake Sully being the topic of the conversation.
"Ladies, please, less gossiping, more sewing," Tawn reminded, trying to keep her cool.
The ladies giggled, and Tawn could hear whispers amongst them before O'etxä finally asked, "What do you think about Toruk Makto lady Tawn'kiri?"
Tawn sighed in defeat. She could not escape from this one now: "I think he's a very loving and disciplined father."
The ladies giggled, "And?"
Tawn unconsciously put down her craft and mindlessly spoke about him, "He's a family man, and he would do anything for them, even hiding among the strangers," Tawn said, "people might see him as a coward, but I think he was scared for his family and not for himself."
Hearing sly hums from the ladies, Tawn sobered up, "That's the only thing I know. I don't know him enough to have an opinion about other things."
"Do you want to know about other things?" O'etxä teased, earning another giggle from the others.
