Malia was one of a kind.
She was the definition of a mastermind. She was pretty, resourceful, practical and calculating.
She never liked anything complicated, she always tried to be as direct as possible. Whether it'd be her chores or turning down a mating proposal, she was fifteen, she wasn't ready to be tied down by a knot anyway.
That was her initial reaction before she saw Him.
When the forest people arrived on the shore, Malia and her friends were watching the whole ordeal on their ilu. They were close enough to hear their Olo'eyktan, and Tsahik decided to let them stay.
Malia's eyes were glued to one particular person. He was not as tall as the other boy, and his hair was tied up in a ponytail, exposing his shaved side just like the man in front of him. She noticed him nodding at Tsireya, the olo'eyktan's precious daughter.
Malia huffed, looking at her giggling friends, "let's go, girls," she told them once the scene ended.
After that day, Malia was infatuated with the boy.
She learned his name was Lo'ak and he was the second son of the former Toruk Makto. She also learned that Tsireya and him grew closer and closer each day.
While she didn't have any problem with Tsireya, Malia found herself annoyed at the prospect of both of them being together. So she hatched a plan, with the help of her girl friends, to ruin Lo'ak and Tsireya's one-on-one time. Malia first asked Tsireya about the Sully's and their schedule, and then she told her friends to do what needed to be done.
It worked for the first few times, but when Tsireya finally found out what was going on, she did everything to avoid Malia and basically hogged Lo'ak to herself.
Malia knew that the olo'eyktan daughter challenged her on race to win his affection and by how close they were, Tsireya was on the lead.
Malia didn't want to lose to her. No, she would do anything to get him.
The second plan she hatched was 'accidentally' bumping into Lo'ak and playing into every man damsel in distress fantasy. Well, at least she hoped he had that kind of fantasy.
It went something like this,
"Oof, oh, how clumsy am I?" Malia smiled bashfully, fluttering her eyes at Lo'ak and bedding down to gather the green leaves from the nearby tree.
Just as she expected, Lo'ak helped her with picking of the papers of leaves on the ground, "uh... Try to be careful next time," he said awkwardly and gave the leaves to Malia.
Malia smiled suggestively at the boy in front of her. One thing she knew about boys her age was that they were extremely susceptible to her allure, "how fascinating," she muttered, making sure he picked up on what she said.
Lo'ak looked at her confused, "what?"
"Your hand," Malia said, letting the leaves on her hand fall and grabbing his hand, inspecting it and placing her palm against his, "you have an extra finger." she noted as if she didn't know about it.
Lo'ak chuckled awkwardly, the strange girl started scaring him, "Um... yeah I know, I don't fit in."
Malia giggled softly, making sure to sound very melodious for the boy, "No," she hummed, her eyes trailing up towards his yellow ones, "I think it's cute."
Lo'ak gulped, pulling his hand away from the girl quickly and standing up on his feet, "Well i better go now, I'll see you later!"
Malia pouted, "See you soon, Lo'ak," she sang, walking away and leaving the leaves she dropped on the ground.
