Olivia's: POV
It's been long Day at the University of Los Angeles
My colleague Lena invited me to go out for drinks this evening. She was the first person l met so far at the college where I worked at, Lena was a professor like me
I needed to call my nanny porsha to see if she could stay a few hours, Lena was telling me about wife Stephanie who works as a sergeant at the LAPD. They have been married for eleven years, l didn't wanna ask her if she had any children, l was still getting use to my surroundings of los Angeles. We pulled up to this club called chubby hole
This must be the club my best friend Casey was telling me about, she and I have been best friends since our freshman year in college. She helped me find a job here
That's one of the reasons I moved to los Angeles three months ago from Manhattan new York, l loved it there
After my mother passed away I needed a change of scenery for me and Nayla, l had her through IVF two years ago. She was the best thing that's ever happened to me
At thirty seven years old, l felt as if something was missing from my life. We go stand in line outside the club
Olivia my wife Stephanie is her way she doesn't like me out in the dark, she's very over protective of me Lena says to me. Don't worry l understand, Manhattan was crazy at night. People were all over the place but there were certain places that l often visited central park was one of them, l would take my daughter Nayla to the zoo all the time. Olivia replied, we moved up in line. Some of our friends live in the Bronx, my family lives in Hudson yards
I'm an only child of my parents Lena explains. She comes from old money l think to myself, Olivia l know what your thinking. I'm not some rich spoiled princess, l might have went to ivy league schools please don't judge me based on my upbringing Lena States. I'm sorry if you felt that way
I'm still getting use to having friends, Olivia said
What do you mean Lena asks? Well l only have one best friend named Casey Novak who lives here, growing up in new York my mother was very strict. I wasn't allowed to play with the other kids Olivia replied, sorry to hear that
No body should ever be caged up in the house Lena gives me a sad smile. This line is taking forever to get in this
I said to Lena who was looking through her phone, Stephanie just texted me and stated she was looking for a parking spot Lena tells me, l just nodded my head at her response. I see a tall blonde woman walking towards us she looks around my age, she had the most beautiful grey eyes. Hey baby how was your day Lena gave her wife a quick peck on the lips, babe this is Olivia and Olivia this is my wife Stephanie Lena introduce us and we exchange greetings. Olivia what kind of work do you do she asks me
Oh l work at the University of LA where I teach English literature Olivia explains, finally we made to the front. of the line l couldn't help but envy Lena and her wife, l wished someone would look at me that way
I didn't remember the last time I was out on a date with another human being yet alone a woman, l most of my quality time with Nayla who was the joy in my life
She's changed the whole world for the better. The woman who was guarding the door informed us it was ladies night, which meant we got in the club free. Love l'm going over to the bar, what do you want me to get you or do you want your usual vodka cranberry juice with a splash of orange juice Stephanie asks Lena. Yeah please she said
Olivia what can I get you  Stephanie asked, oh just a club soda with lime. Baby can you order those chicken wings and some potatoe wedges, you know how much I hate drinking on a empty stomach babe Lena stated. Okay Stephanie winks at Lena, you guys seem so in love
Olivia says, l am she's my best friend lover and my other half. Liv l'm sure you'll find the woman of your dreams one day Lena tells me, l don't know l gave up the idea of finding the perfect woman. It's always been me and Nayla
I told Lena, oh how sweet. I wish our children were still little again, well our youngest is eight and our oldest is away in college, Lena replies. Stefanie came back and took a seat in the booth beside Lena, she wrapped her arms around her.
