Anorexias cruel grip

Her reflection in the mirror,
Is a stranger to her eyes,
She stares and sees a shadow,
Of the person she once recognized.

She counts each calorie she consumes,
And measures every single bite,
Her stomach grumbles in hunger,
But she won't give in tonight.

Anorexia grips her tightly,
A cruel and unforgiving friend,
It whispers lies into her ear,
Telling her this will never end.

Her bones protrude through her skin,
A map of pain and sacrifice,
Her heart beats weakly in her chest,
Aching for a taste of life.

She longs for the freedom,
To eat without fear or shame,
But the monster inside her head,
Won't let her break its game.

Anorexia is a thief,
Stealing joy and stealing health,
But she fights on, determined,
To regain her former self.

So she takes each step with courage,
And each day she tries again,
Fighting back against the darkness,
To find the light within.
