Min-sik hurried over to Dae-won after practice ended. He needed to get away from Kyung-soo; more importantly, he needed someone to catch up with.
But before he could make it there, he was stopped by Go Han-na. "Hey, Min-sik!" she said cheerily.
"Hello," said Min-sik awkwardly.
Han-na shook her head. "How in the world did you manage to get back in?"
"I gave a good speech," said Min-sik.
"What?"
"Nothing. What's up?"
"You were telling me the other day that your phone wasn't working."
"Yeah."
"I wasn't sure when I'd see you next, but now that you're here..." Han-na produced a white box from her bag. "Here."
Min-sik was stunned speechless. "Why?" he managed.
Han-na shrugged. "I figured you could use a hand."
Min-sik took the box from her. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," she said cheerily.
Min-sik stared at the box. It wasn't even like Han-na had gotten something cheap—she'd gotten him the latest model iPhone. As Min-sik tucked the phone into his bag, Dae-won came over.
"Hey, Han-na," he said. "You busy today?"
"Kind of." Han-na pouted. "I have an entrance paper to write."
"Where for?"
"SNU."
Dae-won gawked at her. "You have the marks to get into SNU?"
"My parents were alumni, too."
Min-sik listened quietly to their exchange. For every nice thing Han-na did, he couldn't help but notice signs of her privilege. It took a certain kind of person to buy an iPhone for someone they hardly knew, or to talk about applying to Seoul National University like it was a guarantee they'd get in.
"Min-sik?" Dae-won asked. "Are you busy?"
Min-sik scoffed. "No, not exactly."
"Do you want to get lunch?"
"Only if I decide where," said Min-sik. He didn't want either Dae-won or Han-na picking out a place that was out of his budget.
