I mount onto the quidditch field, a sense of pride ungulfing me as the Slytherin members around me cheer and applaud my efforts on the broom. I look up and see Sebastian and Ominis in the stands. I smile at Sebastian as I notice him staring in my direction. I need to speak to him. He needs to understand why I said what I said. I cant go another day having him think I see him as selfish. He needs to know the meaning behind my words in the undercroft.
How could I think hes selfish. Everything he did last year was in the act of love. Love for his twin sister who he so dearly wished to be free of the curse she was deemed with. What's selfish about that? So he used a few unforgivable curse... I'm not one to judge after all.
I begin exiting the feild as Imelda deems the try outs as finished and head to the common room. Once I arrive, I head to the showers and change out of my attire. I freshen myself up, and head to the room and change into a casual black mini skirt and a knitted vest over a white button up. Once I'm dressed, I sit in my bed and begin placing my socks on when I notice Bandit entering the room with a graceful movement, dropping a letter into my lap. I notice the handwriting, the same from the letter I received the night before my return to Hogwarts. Must be Poppy.
"Dear Rosie,
I hope you are well. After seeing you in pain after the Boggart incident a few days back I've been dearly worried about you. I miss you.
I have some interesting information about a potential beast capturing by none other than poachers. Id love for us to embark on this investigation together. Just like old times.
Meet me in the Great Hall tomorrow afternoon and we can discuss this matter further.P.s, I truly hope you are well. Remember I am here if you need.
Love, Poppy."A sense of guilt rushes through my body as I realise how much I have neglected poppy these last few days. I always saw Poppy as my best friend, the one who truly understands everything and would never judge me despite the unbearable things I've done in my past. I feel terrible that I have not even thought to fill her in on all the events that have taken place so far, considering how much she knows about last year's shenanigans. I must fill her in tomorrow when we dicuss this information she's aware of. In the meantime, I need to speak to Sebastian and Ominis about what happened in the undercroft.
I leave my room and find them sitting by one of the couches in the common room. I join them, sitting across from them and leaning forward.
"Undercroft?" I whisper, aware of the other students nearby and not wanting to reveal our secret location.
"Now?" Says Ominis.
"Yes. Now. Unless of course, you're too busy twiddling your thumbs and daydreaming?" I reply.
"Well. When you put it like that." He laughs, standing up as Sebastian and I follow his lead.We arrive at the entrance to the undercroft and one by one, we enter.
"Ladies first" Sebastian gestures.
I head inside and once we are all in the room we sit in a small circle on the floor. I lean against the pillar behind me, kicking my legs out infront and crossing one over the another. Sebastian lies on his side, his head resting in his hand beside me. Ominis sits infront if me, his legs pulled to his chest as he rests his elbows on his kneecaps. Theres a few moments of silence as we all prepare ourselves for the conversation that is about to take place. Hopefully a conversation that does not end like the last.I finally work up the courage to make the first move.
"Im sorry guys." I say with a sigh. "I just-"
"We know." Ominis interrupts. "You've lost enough already. We understand you don't want to risk losing anyone else" he says.
"It's more than that though. Its not just that I dont want to lose anyone. I cant lose YOU" I say gesturing to them both. "You both mean the world to me. I couldn't bare the thought of bringing you into my mess again." I whisper.
"We understand Rosie." Says sebastian as he moves his other hand onto my leg, rubbing it with his thumb. "But you need to understand something too..." he says.
"Sebasti-" I say before he cuts me off.
"Let me finish first. Please" he says, moving his hand off my leg and sitting upright.
I nod as he takes a deep breath before he opens his mouth to say
"Listen Rosie. We know how hard it is to deal with loss. We know it hurts and we know how much you must struggle to make the memories disappear. Ingo throught this every night when I replay the moments I lost Anne. Its hard. Trust me I know your pain. But you need to realise something. We are here. Through it all. Just like we were last year. The same way you wish to keep us safe, is what we wish for you. And knowing we can keep you safe by not letting you face this alone, is so important to us." He says, tears brimming in his eyes.
"It's true" Ominis says. "We would do anything for you Rosie. We proved that true last year."I sigh, taking in the words escaping their mouths. I feel defeated. Not necessarily in a bad way. Just defeated with the thought that theyre right. I can't face this alone. At least not until I find out more information about what it is I am yet to face.
"I love you guys" I say, a small tear escaping my eye and dribbling down my cheek.
"And we love you" Ominis says, sitting up and opening his arms. "You guys have to help me out here. Incase you forgot I cant actually see who Im supposed to be hugging."
Sebastian and I scoff in laughter and sit up, kneeling and opening our arms, engulfing Ominis and each other. We stay like this for a moment. Laughing over how childish we must look. I make the move to finish this sweet moment by retreating back from the hug and sitting back in my spot. The boys follow my actions and we sit there in silence, smiles on our face as we reunite and destroy any drama and awkwardness that was present before this conversation.
"So what now?" Sebastian asks, looking to me for reassurance.
"Well. Now we figure out what the fucks going on." I say.
"Took the words right out of my mouth" Ominis laughs.
