Y/N
Winter break was already upon us. Students were leaving with their bags as they were saying their goodbyes, many trying to get the address of their new friends to write to them. I sat in the great hall, reading through one of my spell books I acquired in the library as I took notes on possible options.
Poppy came up to me with her radiant smile, her arms wrapping around me as she sat next to me, "Are you excited for break? I know I'm ready to take a break for the studies. What plans do you have for yourself? Are you going to explore Hogsmeade and stay with Highwing?" I turned to look at her as she sat and gave her a warm smile back, nodding. "I think I may do that. I know I need to visit with Highwing. I haven't spent enough time with her."
Poppy gave a small giggle and nodded, "I'm so glad she's safe with us. You truly are a wonderful friend to us both." She put a hand on my shoulder as she handed me a piece of parchment, an address on it. "Please write to me over break. I would love to stay in touch while I'm away. And if you discover any new beasts I want to know about it, okay?" She gave me a stern face, keeping her smile as I nodded. "Of course. I'll make sure to inform you immediately."
The smaller girl nodded and gave me a hug, my arms wrapping around her small frame and soon let go. "Please stay safe while you're here Y/N. Don't get yourself into too much trouble." She soon got up and headed to the door to grab her things and join the many others leaving. I watched as she left, putting the paper in the pocket of my skirt. I turned back to my book, grabbing my quill as I wrote some things off to the side.
A few students were in the hall as well, some talking to others or playing small table games with those that decided to stay. It was rather quaint, some talking here and there, but mostly silent. As I wrote in the margins of the book, a few students walked past me but one stayed in front of me. I took notice to this and lifted my head, looking at the familiar smile. I couldn't help but smile too and set my quill down, "Hey Ominis, are you leaving for break too?"
Ominis sat in front of me and set his wand down, "I actually decided to stay. I thought maybe you would like to have some company."
"Ominis, that is too kind of you. But wouldn't you want to get away from this place for a bit?" The man across from me shook his head, crossing his arms as he leaned on the table, using his elbows to rest on them. "Hogwarts is my home. Being here makes me feel a lot better than being anywhere else. Besides, being here with you and Sebastian makes it worthwhile." His smile was just so contagious, my mood always seeming to raise because of him.
"Well, I would love to spend more time with you. Maybe you can keep my mind off of, well, you know." I tried to stifle a small chuckle, my quill touching the paper again. "Of course. But you do know you are going to have to face him at some point. Maybe not any time soon, but at some point."
A small sigh left my lips as I nodded, continuing to write, "I know. But right now, I need to figure out how to help my wounds. They are starting to get worse..." I gripped my quill, the ink getting darker as I pressed harder into the page of the book. The thought that my mothers spell was not working as it used to was frustrating, but also saddening. It was one of the few things I have left of her.
"And I will help you. Just because you and Sebastian aren't around at the same time with me doesn't mean I won't be around to do what I can." He moved a hand over mine, my grip on my quill loosening. "Thank you. And about Sebastian..."
Ominis moved his hand away, the smile turning into a smirk some, "He hasn't stopped talking about you. He ended things with Prudence, for good, and he's been so caught up with trying to find ways to apologize to you." Ominis sighed, keeping the smile as he tilted his head to the side. "He truly does love you Y/N. I do understand being mad at him, but he seems to be trying." I set my quill down as I closed my book, taking a deep breath in and slowly letting it out.
