Across the bar, I gave a handsome man a nod, our usual greetings.
He seemed sophisticated in his designer suits, and pricey gold watches.
Paid for by his out of town business trips, and after hours meetings.
He'd cast flames to it all, if only he had the guts to set the matches.If only he could follow his heart, instead of another's ambition.
He wanted to stay in one place, play guitar, and sing.
Alas, he'd follow his father's path, it was only tradition.
To keep family business alive, and the money growing.Then just like that, a bankrupt family dream. He still comes into the bar.
That handsome man now serenates me each night with his guitar.Author's Note:
