•°Corinne's POV°•
I entered my house quietly, only to see mom wasn't home, it's been happening a lot more where she doesn't stay home, she out doing whatever she has been doing, the alcohol bottles have also become less. The first time I saw that our fridge was full of food, it threw me off, I almost fell backwards in shock.
I got myself a glass of water, looking around to see how much I have to do, after I finished eating my orange I started with the little chores there were to do, even my chores have gotten less.
Finishing everything took half a hour, I walked upstairs into my room, I sat down on the floor staring up at the ceiling, my head turned to my bag, looking closer I saw something sticking out of it, crawling to my bag, I took it out.
It was a postcard, on the back was writing, the handwriting I immediately recognized as Ben's, I saw my name on the side, the poem caught my attention.
"Your hair is winter fire, January embers, my heart burns there too."
The smile on my face had my cheeks hurting, I laid on the floor once again holding the card close to my chest, closing my eyes.
It was a perfect kind of silence, but good things never last long, the silence suddenly felt eerie. I sat up in a hurry looking around, infront of my feet spiders were walking towards my door.
My hands was shaking, I got up following the trail of spiders, it led me to the living room. Right in the middle the little monsters were climbing on top of each other, forming a very big spider, my breathing has started to get uneven, the beast infront of me was not ordinary.
The body was that of a clown, the rest was all spider, I took small steps back, It was staring at me with those yellow eyes, staring straight at me.
I gasp when I saw it's mouth open, drool coming from the side of its mouth, It took agonizing slow steps towards me, staring at me as if I'm it's next meal. Its laugher followed shortly after, it sounded sinister, and truly evil sending a shiver down my spine. I tripped over the mat trying to get away.
"Corinne, it's time to float!" It says, It came charging right at me, with a scream ripping through my throat, I tried getting back up running around the coach, but it jumped over, It had me cornered. I closed my eyes accepting that this is how I'm gonna die, the clown's face inches from mine, feeling It breathing against my skin.
It's growls got louder the closer it got, my silence prayers must have been answered when the front door opened. "Honey, are you home?" My mom's voice rang through out the house.
I open my eyes to see the giant clown spider has disappeared, nowhere to be seen. "Yeah." I say, my voice still shaking. I fell to the ground at the same time my mom entered the living room.
"Corinne, are you okay?" She asks, her voice laced with worry. "I'm just tired." I mumble, mom helped me to my feet.
"Why don't you go take a nap, and come down after your fully rested, I'll get us pizza for dinner." Mom says, a smile on her face, I nodded my head, I headed back upstairs falling on my bed, and fell asleep right away.
