"Er.. hi." I say, attempting a grin. Her eyes widen slightly, and she gestures for me to come inside, in which I do.
"Well, I didn't expect you to show up so soon after meeting you!" Vicky boasts, plopping onto the nearby sofa. She pats the space beside me, and I walk over to take a seat beside her.
"Uh.. yeah. Funny story, really." I say, scratching the back of my head. Vicky cocks her head to the side and blinks.
"What do you mean?" She asks, leaning back in her seat and resting her arms on the top length of the sofa.
"My friend came up with an idea." I reply, the words seeming to just roll off my tongue with ease. She blinks again, urging me to continue in a way. I sigh.
"Uhm.. I was wondering if you could help me.. learn to fly." I finish, staring anywhere but at her. It seemed silly, really when, in all honesty, I could just learn myself.
She chuckles to herself and smiles widely."Well, if you wanna. I'd be happy to help. Besides, who better to ask?" She beams, getting up from the sofa and hurrying towards the front door.
"Come on! We have ALL day today, thanks to the Exam Board meeting!!"Slowly, I stand up and join her by the door. She swings it open with one grand gesture and marches outside like she owns the place. She gestures for me to follow her as she happily walks toward the Plaza.
"Alright! First things first.. I'm gonna need to teach you the basics! It was extremely obvious that you're new to this whole thing." She states, hands on her hips. Of course she was watching me.
"OK... what do I do then?" I reply, gesturing for her to continue. She taps her chin in thought before raising a finger.
"Let's start small. How about... gliding?" Vicky suggests, aiming towards one of the Schools benches.
"Isn't that too small to even glide from?" I murmur questioningly. She seems to take my words into consideration but denies it anyway.
"We're starting small, remember? Besides, I would hate for you to get hurt within mere minutes!" She replies, already walking over to the bench. She points to it, and I can't help but roll my eyes a little.
I climb up onto the bench and stare down at her, grinning to myself. Vicky notices and opens her mouth to speak.
"Don't get too cocky now. You're still gonna be shorter than me even when you get off the bench." She says with a smile on her face. I ignore her, of course.Panning my wings outward for the 3rd time that morning, I ensure that Vicky is a few steps away. Knowing myself, I'll probably rocket off the bench and fly directly at her face. With my tongue sticking out slightly, I hop off the bench and allow the wind to catch my wings.
I land softly on the grey concrete without any mistakes. Vicky skips over and beams widely, clapping her hands briefly."Great!! OK, next is proper flying!" She smiles again, making her way towards a rocky hill I hadn't even noticed before.
"That hill is perfect for lift-off! See, it even has a small... uh.. poking-out thingy!"
I shake my head, grinning to myself again as I follow her over to the hill."OK, OK, let me show you what you have to do!" Vicky bellows from her position on top of the rocky ledge.
I glimpse upward, the Sun shining in our direction. I shield my eyes with my hand so that I can see her. Vicky clears her throat and breathes in deeply.
"Feast your eyes on my awesome flying skills!" She proclaims almost threateningly, her pale-blue wings already outstretched. With a swift nod, I watch as she zooms upward and into the clouds, a small puff of dust left in her wake.
