Natanstrellean Recent History/ Politics
The old King Verax, King Lux's grandfather and Astrid the first's great grandfather, sought to control his subjects by taking away their ancient scrolls. King Verax told only his descendants about the hidden scrolls, and that they must always be locked up, never read.
Not having the ancient scrolls at hand, the people over time forgot their true ancient history and the old language was no longer being regularly used in every day conversation.
Only the Fiosolim family knew the story of their ancient times, Illuminare-Trabem had shown each of them these truths within the prophetic smoke and warned them to keep it secret until the right time.
Within his hatred of the Troll kind, King Verax sought to keep the war going, he made up lies about them, claiming he got these stories from the scrolls to condition Natanstrelleans to fear them. The war lasted for centuries - no Natanstrellean knows for sure how many years exactly. Following monarchs shared Verax's prejudices and kept true to the laws he set. Natanstrelle lived under fear and their mistrust of things they didn't understand made it easy for them to be manipulated by ambitious smoke gazers and power hungry kings; this in turn made it a great breeding ground for dark forces.
When Astrid became Queen, Luchinda was told by Illuminare-Trabem that it was time to give back the scrolls to the people. Astrid then made it law that all Natanstrelleans must be taught their ancient history. She also saw the damage smoke gazing was doing to the Fiosolim, she abolished their original trade and appointed them as educators of Natanstrellean history instead. Fiosolim at first taught each family separately until Queen Amber (Astrid-the-first's heir) established the History school in Central City, known now as Queen Amber's Academy.
Petra Marbh(pron. Pet-rah Mar-uv), the Fiosolim family's burial tomb and the magical portal to the other realm, was kept as a historical monument that Natanstrelleans were welcome to visit since the end of the Noir-Era. This was until a secret group began to meet there and use prophetic smoke illegally. These illegal gazers also began to dabble into dark magic. After seeing the dangers that arose, leading to mysterious cases of missing children and a body being found within the Trabem Pool, Queen Amber cracked down harder on the illegal gazers and made the Fiosolim's burial cave forbidden to all Natanstrelleans.
Language Evolution:
Sìthicris-Sana (pron. Shee-criss Sah-na), translation: Fairy Sound, was the language the Sìthicris tribe spoke to one another.
Early Natanstrelleans learned both Sìthicris-Sana and Troll language growing up. Troll language became the preferred language for everyday conversation. Over the years Sìthicris-Sana was used less and less, and only magic was communicated with that language.

Ann a suillos ain an aonus Beannai. (Awn a soo-loss ine an oon-uss Bay-an-nai) Translation: In the eyes of the blessed one.

Each family, as well as their own trade, have their own assigned colour, flower and traditional meal.

Draoicis-Lus - Meilerica (Velvet) Nut loaf with Earrons salad and Dulmil Bhlàth (Sweet bloom) cake.
Biabus-Lus - Agerach Avun (Field bird) soup with corn bread. Apple and Aurora berry pie.
Sprèintis - Trì-cruras (3 legged pig-like animal) Roast and cocoa tart.
Slànacus - Strelle lux (star light) trout stew and pancakes served with Dulmil Bhlàth syrup.
Fiosolim - Dìomhreto (Secret) truffle quiche served with Earrons salad and cocoa apple pudding.
Royals - Strelle Grouse Roast and Blackberry Crumble.
Family Symbols
These symbols are the Sìthicris' written symbols to represent the most important aspects of their way of life. Each aspect has become, over time, a family trade. These symbols are used for the family protection spell - Samhun-Tealia (pron. Sah-voon Teh-lee-ah). They are also carved upon the surrounding wall of Central City and on all family homes within Natanstrelle. These symbols are presented by the light magic within Beanna Cessori- the Ancestor's Blessing.
