emneeson_ Been so busy recently I didn't even realise that this year marks 10 years of being sober. I honestly can't believe it's been this long. Let it be known recovery was not an easy journey. It was winding with wrong turns and very bumpy roads. It was a struggle. But over time it became easier. Never did I think I would get to a point where a beer would be right in front of me and I would feel disgusted by it. Never did I think I would never want to drink a beer again. And yet here I am.
If you're someone out there that's dealing with an addiction of any kind, know there is still hope. There is still a way out of it. You may feel like there's no light at the end of the tunnel, but that's your addiction lying to you. Freedom is possible. One day you will find the fight to stand up and find the light that is there. And you will be free.
I could not have recovered alone. My family, my friends all helped me to this point today. I would have been lost long ago if they weren't with me. Letting people help you may seem scary but I promise you it can help you. Let them help you.
Addictions need to be handled seriously. ALL addictions. Not just alcohol. Drugs, gaming, gambling, sex. Any kind of addiction deserves to be treated seriously and properly.
