Missing in action

Chapter twenty

"Mummy I saw something so cool today" Theo said excitedly as he wrapped his arms around my neck pulling me in for a hug. 

"Oh yeah and what was that" I replied walking towards the sofa and taking a seat. 

"Aunty Anna found it, it was a Lightning McQueen car you could drive" he giggled as I took his shoes off. 

"Maybe if you're a good boy you can get it for your birthday" Anna said while she headed over and sat down at the dining room table. 

"Yeah I promise I will" He admitted in my arms as he spoke on about this car. 

"Drink?" Anna asked raising a brow at me. I nodded at her in reply listening to Theo talk about his day out with Anna. 

"Mummy who's that" Theo whispered in my ear pointing behind me. I spun round and my eyes met Lando's, his race slightly red in embarrassment. 

"Mango let's go quickly find something in your room to show our guest hey?" Anna ran towards us and scooped him from my arms heading to his room. I swear to god that girl has saved my arse one too many times. 

"Im so sorry, I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to scare him" Lando mumbled looking off at where Anna and Theo disappeared to. 

"No don't worry, I was so preoccupied I forgot" I admitted quietly, the noise of Theo throwing things around his room could be heard along with Anna saying how cool everything was as if we hadn't seen the same things before. 

"That's fine" Lando said looking down at his hands. "Can I meet him" he carried on quietly, I barely heard his question to me. But as soon as I did my head shot up to look at him, my heart strained a little bit. I know he said he wanted ti be in our lives but I didn't expect it to be so soon, a slight feeling of worry needled its way into my heart, I didn't want Theo to meet his dad and then Lando decide it wasn't for him. 

"Are you sure, because once you're in his life you can't leave, it would break him" I grabbed his arm getting him to look at me. His face looked filled with excitement, his eyes pure. 

"I'm sure, i've had time to decide, I know what I want" Lando replied pulling me in for a hug, his arms wrapped around me, his face dropped into my shoulder. My heart grew even further today knowing this.

 I pulled away from him as I heard fast foot steps heading towards us, Theo came from the hall way, dragging his new fluffy blanket we got him when we upgraded Theo to a big boys room, with a proper bed. He also had my sunglasses on that he had claimed as his own. 

"Mummy can we have movie night tonight" Theo shouted, sliding into my legs. He looked up at Lando, forgetting that he was here. His eyes looked at me for comfort as he gripped my leg. I gazed at Lando to make sure he was okay to do this. I was slightly nervous to introduce Lando to Theo as his dad and I was questioning if it was the right choice. 

"Come sit down mango" I said as I picked him up and sat on the sofa again. Anna walked in and watched from the sidelines, giving me a supportive thumbs up. Lando still stood in the same place, not moving out of possible fear from the look on his face. 

"Remember how I told you that I lost your daddy like you sometimes lose your toys" I asked him as I slipped the sunglasses off his head and placed them on the coffee table. 

"Yes" Theo replied looking up at me with his mouth slightly open. 

"Well I found daddy" I said to him, his face didn't change. I started to get nervous, a lump formed in my throat and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. 

"Really" Theo whispered his eyes widening a bit. 

"Yes, that's your daddy" I smiled as him looking over at Lando, he looked how I felt. I'm sure he was nervous for his first encounter with his own son. Theo looked at Lando and then back at me.
