Third Person POV

September 3rd, 1940 // September 2nd, 2016

Two weeks. Sawyer had been clean for two weeks, and she felt free. She often thought about self-harm, but she stuck by Enoch's side. He no longer cared about trying to stay stone cold, proving to the others he had a heart. Everyone had taken notice of his soft demeanor around Sawyer and enjoyed Enoch's happiness, but no one caught on as to what happened behind closed doors. Sawyer had even made friends with Millard and Emma. Becoming close, helping Emma with her chores, playing soccer with Millard, and going to the beach with them. Sawyer began to love her life in the house.

However, as time continued, Miss Peregrine grew worried about their relationship progressing.

"You must be wondering why I've called you both here," Miss P spoke sternly but softly to the two teenagers. They looked at each other and back the bird before nodding.

"I want you two to be completely honest with me. Is there something between you?" The bird leaned forward with her fingers intertwined and her forearms on the oak desk.

Sawyer froze, anxiety coursed through her veins, blood running cold. Her eyes widened with shock, but before she could respond, Enoch spoke up for her.

"No. Of course not, Miss Peregrine," Enoch scoffed, throwing his hands up dramatically. "We're just friends."

Sawyer nodded quickly and frantically while Enoch mentally slapped his forehead with how obviously nervous she was. The bird narrowed her intense eyes at the couple, finding no truth in what Enoch had said.

"I don't believe that, so I'll give you one last chance to be honest with me."

Both teens felt cold as the defeat of the secret they tried to hide leaked into the office. Sawyer sighed and hung her head.

"Fine, I like Enoch more than a friend, but I swear! We are just friends." She stared deeply into the eyes of her ymbryne, fully ready for the punishment waiting to come.

Enoch looked between Sawyer and Miss Peregrine as she closed her eyes and sucked in a sharp breath.

The thick tension grew and drowned the pair as they waited for the wrath of Miss Peregrine.

"You both are to have two weeks of extra chores," Miss P spoke quickly and low, both of the teens letting out a breath of relief at the easy let off. "And."

Oh no...

"You are to separate and cease contact until whatever this is, isn't," The harsh tone struck both of the teens, and they felt their heart drop.

"But Miss Peregri-" Enoch began to protest, worried for Sawyer's wellbeing before the said woman cut him off.

"There will be no buts Enoch, from either. There is nothing either of you can do or say to change my mind."

Enoch slammed his open palm on the desk in rage before storming out of the room. Sawyer with folded hands looked at Miss Peregrine waiting to be dismissed, pain filling her heart. Miss Peregrine nodded, and sawyer swiftly stood up and left silently. Miss Peregrine let out a sigh she had been holding in. She didn't like upsetting her kids, but in her mind, she was protecting them.

Sawyer's POV

September 3rd, 1940 // September 2nd, 2016

After leaving her office, I made my way to the one place I felt safe in the moment. The Library.

Millard looked up, or I thought he did because his hat tilted up, as I pushed both doors open. I almost ran to the table he was sitting at with a book placed open in front of him.
