DISCLAIMER: I Don't Own Teen Wolf

Did going on a rave with a friend without any other friends while knowing that that friend likes you class as a date? Ellie didn't want to think that it did.

But it wasn't like she could talk to anyone about it. Scott would get jealous, Lydia was still angry at her for leaving her out, and Allison was spending so much time training with Gerard that they'd barely spoken in weeks.

Scott hadn't messaged her much since the kanima attack in the library, but he had managed to tell her that he'd agreed with an uneasy alliance with Derek. She wasn't being told anything by anyone – including her friends!

Ellie resorted to pouting alone in her room, switching off her phone and trying to get some homework done. She didn't need to be kept in the loop – she could just spend the next couple of days on her own until going on a date with Matt. Ignoring Scott was hardly childish when he'd been doing the same thing for days.

"Ellie," Uncle Chris said from the doorway to her room. He was wearing one of those leather jackets that were much too young for him, like the leader of a biker gang or something. "You need to come with me."

"Come with you where?"

"There's something I have to show you," he replied. "Now, get dressed and come with me."

Reluctantly, she shoved her books off of her lap and went to change out of her pyjamas. She followed him out of the room without her phone with her, frowning at his back. What could possibly be important enough to drag her away from homework? He was supposed to be a responsible adult who cared about her education.

They drove for a while in silence, until they reached the hospital. He didn't answer when she asked why they were there, and Ellie briefly wondered if she would see Scott there. He could be visiting his mum, right?

... Not that she cared, of course. She was much too mad at Scott to want to see him.

"Why did you take me here?" she asked her uncle as he led her quietly through some of the more deserted halls of the hospital. "Surely you should be brining Allison. She's your new apprentice, right?"

"Allison is... going through some things," Chris replied, frowning. "Gerard is using her for something, but I don't know what. You're not the only one that's barely seen her."

He said nothing more about it.

Eventually, they reached a small, dimly lit room that Ellie was certain they weren't supposed to be in. Two tables sat in the middle of the room, both with clean, white sheets covering suspiciously body-shaped lumps under them.

"Oh my God," she turned to Chris disbelievingly. "Are you kidding? You took me to a morgue?"

Chris gently touched the label attached to one of the lumps. "This is Sean," he said. "Sean was killed by this thing Gerard said is a kind of shape-shifter that hasn't been around of centuries."

"The thing you, um, shot outside of the club the other night," she said slowly, not knowing if she should tell him that she already knew about the kanima – that Stiles had already 'stolen' a segment from the Argent family bestiary.

"South American legend we know of calls it the kanima," Chris told her.

Trying to feign surprise, she nodded. He pointed to the other body, "This one is Jessica." He added, "She was smothered to death after giving birth. The police think it was done by someone else; we think it's a person that's controlling this other shape-shifter. That means that there are two killers, Ellie: one human, one not."
