You and Steven sat in silence in his room

it was the middle of the night

And he had just made the two of you some tea

You had both just woken up from your dream

needless to say, it was pretty awkward

"So..." he said, breaking the silence "Did you know I have the power to enter dreams?" he turned to you

you choked on your tea

"Oh?" you said through coughs

he placed his cup down on his headboard shelf

"You okay?" he asked concerned, placing a hand on your shoulder

"Yeah yeah, I'm fine." you said, still coughing lightly

"...The sky is really pretty tonight." you said, sipping your tea awkwardly

Both your faces were red

he knew you knew

"I can think of something prettier..." he said, scooting closer

He was pretty nervous of what he was about to do

but he was determined, I mean
after the dream how could he not be?

His heart was racing, and his hands were sweaty

"Oh, okay!" he yelled from the bedroom

he fell back onto his bed and covered his face with his hands

He sat up and made his way out the door

he was searching the beach for you

he was getting kind of worried

what if you ran back home?

did he scare you that bad?

he was frantically searching for you

He was scanning so fast that he nearly ran past you

he turned to the hand in the sand and there you sat

"Y/N! You scared me!" he said relieved

"Y/N?"

you were deep in thought

"Y/N." He said, poking you

He watched as you visibly snapped out of thought 

your eyes glided to him, your expression unreadable

you stared at each other for a good five seconds before Steven sat beside you

"I'm sorry" he spoke

"I..I shouldn'tve done that. I made you uncomfortable and I didn't mean to try and make you do something that you didn't want to d-"

you cut him off

"It's not that I didn't want to..." You turned to him

"I just..." you looked to the ground "...I don't know"

"You don't have to lie, It's fine if you didn't want to" he said sympathetically

"No... Steven, I..." you faced him again "I'm a coward..." you mumbled

"What?"

"I'm a coward..." you mumbled louder

"...Again?" 

"I'M A COWARD!" you blurt out "I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANTED TO KISS YOU BUT I GOT NERVOUS SO I RAN AWAY LIKE A FUCKING PUSSY"

Your face was so red

Steven was kind of in shock
to be honest he thought you would never want to talk to him again

Guess he was silent for too long cause a few seconds later you spoke again

"Well...say something..." you said flustered

He didn't speak, suddenly engulfing you in a warm hug

you both sat like that for what felt like an eternity

neither one of you wanting to leave the other's embrace

but eventually, he had to

he released you and cupped your cheeks

he gazed at your beautiful face for a moment before speaking

"You are someone I want to hold close..." he spoke calmly "Someone I will always want by my side..."

he moved his hands from your rosy cheeks to your hands
he held them in his and rubbed the back of them lovingly

"Thoughts of you overflow in my head and I never want it to stop."

his heart was beating out of his chest

he was anxious but excited

he was scared but calm

but every word from him was completely true and genuine

"Y/N I like you" He smiled "And so... will you be my girlfriend?"

He watched as tears poured down your cheeks

but you had a smile on your face

you nodded vigorously

"Don't cry" He chuckled

"I can't help it!" You sniffled

he leaned in and planted soft kisses on your eyes and cheeks

"Steven!" you giggled, playfully pushing at him

he pulled away and gazed into your eyes

And once again, he wrapped you in a tight hug

"Let's take it slow" he said, his voice muffled into your hair

"I'd like that" you smiled, hugging him tighter

After a while, you finally let each other go

He stood up and held a hand out for you

you took it and he helped you up

you continued holding hands as you walked together back to the temple
