present day

'Ah, fuck it,' she thought, and connected their lips.

Tingles spread throughout Hyeri's body, and her heart rate increased. She felt. . . alive, after so long. Blood rushed through every vessel of hers.

She had almost forgotten this feeling. The last time she had felt this aroused and alive, was when her marriage with Seungcheol was new, which was more than a year ago.

More. She wanted more.

Hyeri was about to move closer, when all of a sudden, it all stopped. The elation and thrill halted, only to be replaced by excruciating pain in her shoulders.

It took Hyeri a second to realise that Soonyoung had pushed her away, an alarmed and horrified expression on his face. Hyeri was feeling a flurry of emotions; guilt, embarrassment, hurt.

What she didn't know was that it had hurt Soonyoung much more to do that.

But he had no other choice; his eyes had fallen on her horribly bruised shoulder, which was exposed due to her shirt being pulled down when she had reached out to kiss him.

He felt a sense of agony he had never felt before when he saw those bruises littering her smooth, flawless skin. She didn't deserve any of that abuse.

Soonyoung wasn't a fool, he knew who had hurt her like that; her husband, Choi Seungcheol.

Said man was only a few steps away from where they were, which was all the more reason for Soonyoung to not give in to Hyeri, and his own temptations.

He knew what Seungcheol was capable of, and couldn't bear to imagine what he would do to her if he found them in such a compromising position.

Soonyoung could never forgive himself if something happened to Hyeri because of him.

"I-I need to go," he muttered, getting up from the couch and walking out of the room without sparing Hyeri a second glance.

He didn't know what he would've done if he saw her hurt face again.

"Seokmin?" Soonyoung called out, standing near the door of the house. A few seconds later, Lee Seokmin appeared, keeping his phone in his jeans' pocket.

"How is he?" Soonyoung asked softly, head tilting towards where Seungcheol was.

"Worse," Seokmin muttered, glancing back at the closed door he was inside a while back. "The smell of alcohol was getting so unbearable, that I had to leave him alone."

Soonyoung sniffed in Seokmin's direction and wrinkled his nose. "I can smell the alcohol on your clothes too."

Seokmin sighed, opening the door and walking outside. Soonyoung followed, softly closing the door behind him, hearing the soft click of the automatic lock.

"How is Hyeri?" Seokmin asked casually, pressing the elevator's button.

"Fine," Soonyoung answered evasively. Seokmin sighed. His friend always became guarded and avoiding whenever anyone mentioned Hyeri, or tried to talk to him about her.

"Right." Seokmin clicked his tongue, deciding to drop the topic, at least until Soonyoung seemed ready to talk to someone, instead of pretending to be fine.

Hyeri sat extremely still on the couch, her mind replaying everything that had happened before Soonyoung left so abruptly.

She was extremely ashamed of herself. How could she have done that to Seungcheol? She was feeling sick, and tears collected in her eyes once again.

As if her guilty thoughts had dragged him here, Seungcheol stumbled into the room, eyes half closed.

The room was filled with the strong scent of alcohol. It was as if Seungcheol carried the smell with him everywhere he went. Though that wouldn't be an overstatement, considering the fact that these days, there was not a single moment where he was sober.

Seungcheol wasn't always like this. Sure, he liked to drink a little more than the average person, but he wasn't an alcoholic when he got married to Hyeri.

He was the most perfect man Hyeri had ever seen. It was love at first sight for her. His personality only helped her fall for him harder and harder.

Hyeri was living the best life she could've ever asked for. She still wondered where it all went wrong. She wondered when the perfect dream she was living morphed into an endless, tortuous nightmare.

I love scoups with my whole heart, but this is not scoups; it is an original character who happens to look like him, and has the same name, that's it. Same goes for every other character in the story. Please keep that in mind as you read :)
