After Theo left, I tried to focus on studying for the exam, but I couldn't focus anymore. I had hurt Y/N so much and I have to make it up to her. I just don't know how. I thought about all the ways I could make it up to her, while everybody else went to dinner. I couldn't face Y/N just yet at dinner, so I stayed in my room. It was getting late, so I ended up going to bed, secretely hoping to wake up at the beginning of this day and having the chance to take everything back.

I woke up just before sunrise and decided to quickly go to the Great Hall to get some food, before receding back to my dorm, hoping to avoid Y/N a bit longer. Only hope wasn't enough to make it a reality, because the moment I had grabbed my food and was on my way to leave the Great Hall, Y/N entered through the door. She stopped dead in her tracks and just stared at me. 'Y/N...' I could see the tears welling up in her eyes, still being hurt by the words of one of the worst versions of myself. 'I... I am so...' I started. 'Please don't...' She cut me off. 'Please, love... I'm so sorry. I didn't mean what I said.' 'Then, why did you say it?' Her eyes were still watery, but she wasn't going to let any tears fall down her cheeks in front of me. 'I had a shitty day and I got in my head about something that happened. I was angry about it and I acted it out on the one person I would never want to hurt. And I'm sorry about it.' 'Not good enough. You have seen how people talk to me, comparing me to my sister. You promised me that I would never come second to her and you broke that promise.' She was right. I made that promise at the beginning of the year when I saw how Cedric and Dean treated her. But, I hadn't lied. She would never come second to her sister to me. I don't care about her sister, I never will. I just care about her. 'I didn't mean any of it, Y/N. I don't give a damn about your sister. I just care about you.' I could see the doubt in her eyes. She was thinking about believing me, but before she could make a decision, Pansy walked up to us. 'I don't know what you're saying to her, Mattheo, but you should leave her alone. You've hurt her enough.' Pansy said with anger in her eyes. She directed her attention to Y/N and grabbed her hand. 'Come on, babe. Let's get some food in you.' Pansy pulled Y/N with her towards the Slytherin table and I tried one more time. 'Y/N...' She looked over her shoulder at me. Her defenses breaking, when one single tear left her right eye. FUCK!

I stormed out of the Great Hall and bumped into Theo, while walking back to my dormroom. 'Hey, pump your brakes man. What's the rush?' Theo said when I tried to walk past him. 'I just need to get back to my room.' I responded. 'Did you talk to Y/N yet? She just went to the Great Hall, so you must have seen her right?' 'Yes, I saw her. And I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't listen to me. When I almost got her to listen to me, Pansy came and ended our conversation, so Y/N is still mad at me.' 'It'll be alright, Mattheo. You care about eachother, so you'll figure this out.' 'I hope so.' I kept on walking after that and soon reached my dormroom. I decided to review the materials for my Charms retake exam this afternoon one more time, before going to my first class of the day.

My schoolday started with Potions Class together with, none other than, Y/N. Normally, we work together, but today she wasn't sitting in her regular seat. She was sitting next to Blaise and Blaise's regular partner Draco was sitting in Y/N's seat. I sat down next to Draco, while looking over at Y/N. She did everything she could not to look at me, but failed soon. She quickly glanced at me, before trying to focus on her conversation with Blaise again. 'What happened between you? And what happened to your face?' Draco asked me. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow at the second question and he hinted at my jaw. I grabbed a spoon from the table and looked at my reflection to see a big dark purple mark on the spot where Theo had hit me yesterday. The asshole didn't even tell me how it looked when I bumped into him earlier. I deserved it and he has good aim, but damn that's not going away any time soon. 'So?' Draco asked me when I still hadn't answered either of his questions. 'Nothing happened.' I said with enough irritation in my voice to make Draco stop asking questions about it. 'Okay... then, let's get started on the potion we need to make.' 'Sounds good.' I responded to Draco.
