Korra never truly got to know what she did right in life to score Asami. Seriously, it always seemed too good to be true. Whenever she looked at Asami, she just felt so lucky to be with her that her head might explode from how hard she was smiling. At first, she prefered having met Asami normally and not through an arranged marriage, but there was something oddly relaxing in knowing that this was it. In a way, Korra was relieved to know that she didn't have to worry about Asami leaving. Of course, her girlfriend could still do that, but it didn't feel like it. She felt more secure than any of Korra's past relationships.

There was no escape, Korra knew it. Both of them were thinking about their upcoming wedding, it was inevitable. Korra really wanted to simply focus on the moment with Asami, but now that the two of them were attending a wedding at that very moment... Yeah, they pretty obviously had the same thing in mind. Of course, it did not help that Asami looked absolutely amazing today. Well, she always did, but today... She seemed almost magical. Everything from Asami's dress, to her makeup, to just Asami herself was just... Perfect. She was stunning, and hers, which felt absolutely amazing to know. She did not mind waking up to this every day, not at all

Other than that, Korra was pretty damn nervous at the moment. Suro and her tried keeping in touch, of course, but it was hard. In a way, both of them wanted to forget about the past and move on, and the other was always a constant reminder as to what they had to endure. They checked up on each other every once in a while, but they didn't find a time to meet up. Well, it wasn't exactly true. Whenever Korra was in town, the experience of being there was too hard for her to warrant meeting Suro. Their friendship was genuine, but difficult. However, Korra always held hope that it may change in the future.

Upon arriving at the venu, they were greeted by one of the groomsmen. Korra had never met him before, but then again Korra had never met the groom as well. She was almost as clueless as Asami, but thankfully, she did know a couple of them.

"Corporal!"

Korra turned around, and she couldn't help but smile seeing her old commander and shaking her hand. It has been years now, probably the last time they saw each other was when Suro was discharged. Now, as they stood face to face, Korra was starting to realize that maybe it was harder to think about meeting people from her past, rather than actually seeing them.

Her initial instinct was to stand upright, but she managed to suppress that. Gone were the days of military stance, and that was made very clear when Zen pulled her into a hug.

"Look at you!" She said, pulling away to take a look at Korra. "You're walking!"

Korra couldn't help but laugh. It's a good thing that Asami knew everything by now, otherwise this would be awkward to explain. "I am," she affirmed, "it has been a while, huh?"

"Too long. You never visit." She accused, circling Korra and studying her. "Honestly, when the doctors said that you might walk again, I thought they were being optimistic. I should've known you were a fighter." She smiled.

"Yep, that's me, I was too stubborn to never walk again," Korra chuckled.

"Well, it's good to see you here, you should come by more often." Zen said, before noticing Asami. "Who are you?"

Asami offered her a handshake. "I'm Asami, I heard a lot about you."

"Can't say the same, who are you?" Her ex-commander said, confused.

"I, um..." Asami looked at Korra for help.

"My girlfriend," Korra introduced, "and uh... Fiancé." She added.

Zen's jaw dropped. "You're kidding."

"She's not," Asami affirmed cheerfully.

"Well I'll be damned." Her commander was astonished. "And she's taller than you!"
