Ayesha.

"Nisha! Ayesha!" We heard a very annoyed Veena masi who was marching in our direction frowning while her eyebrows were furrowed together

"I see death." I whispered in Nisha's ear but she continued to separate the gifts without looking in the direction of her mother

"I do not." She stubbornly replied
"What did I tell you both?" Veena aunty stood infront of us while I was grinning sheepishly in her direction while Nisha did not bothered replying

"We forgot, masi." I admitted and from the corner of my eyes I saw Nisha's jaw clenched and I was fast enough to get a hold of her hand and squeeze it assuringly before she starts spitting fire.

"Go pick up the guests from the reception." Veena aunty ordered while her longing gaze remained at Nisha but that stubborn ass did not spare her a glance

"Yes, masi." I did not wanted things to get awkward furthermore but it seemed like masi was lost in her own trance while her eyes stayed fixed on Nisha

"Yes, Nisha?" She asked sternly in a desperate attempt to make her daughter talk to her but Nisha refused to even look in her direction and I felt hurt for both of them.

Instead of replying Nisha got up and tugged on my hand asking me to follow her lead and I obeyed but I saw hurt in masi's eyes and I did not dared to look away from my masi till the time she was out of my vision

"Nisha." I called her and she hummed playing with the end of her pallu. We never got the chance to change our clothes after veneration since there was soo much work to be done in very less time

"Can you stop behaving like an ass and talk it out with your parents?" I asked and she glared at me

"It's not like Kabir is the worst man on planet earth! Atleast give him a chance!" I chided and she glared at me while I saw tears brimming in her eyes. She was crying? She won't.

"Of course. Nisha is the only person to take responsibility for making everything right! He's also in this, right? Why can't anyone ask him to do that?" She out of nowhere shouted and stomped out of the elevator and I closed my eyes feeling guilty

I followed her quietly with my eyes pinned on the floor but I bumped into her back and she held my arm in an iron grip to prevent me from falling

"Go attend your masi's guests." She hissed through her teeth and I looked forward to get my breath hitch in my throat. He came earlier than he said? My eyes locked with his hazel ones and the time stopped. I realised how much I missed him.

"Nisha, we both are supposed to attend them." I passed her a lip tight smile and got my arm out of her hold while she glared at me before brushing past me to the reception counter

I turned towards the two men and took small steps closer to them and smiled warmly at no one certain.

"Good evening, Mr. Rathore." I greeted Kabir first and he nodded acknowledging my greetings and I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes

"Rather call me Kabir, Ayesha." He addressed me and I smiled wider. I had no such problem with him other than the day he made my friend cry but when I know she made it even I cannot really be rude towards him. Afterall, it's not his fault either.

"Sure, Kabir. Hope that you had no problems in your journey." I continued to converse with him because I was too deranged to even look in his direction.

"Other than this grumpy ass dragging me here earlier than we were supposed to, everything was fine." He muttered annoyed and I couldn't help but feel heat rising in myself but I let it slide and motioned them to follow me.
