Author's Note
As promised, I will still add a few bonus fluff chapters here and there. Probably not a ton but here's one <3.
Alhaitham's POV
"Mmmmm."
I whispered to myself, the grass blades tickling my ear. The sun was creating small beads of sweat on my forehead as my eyes were closed, letting the sun wash over my body. I usually hated lying down outside, it was too warm and I never saw a need for it before. But ever since I moved into the jungle with Kaveh I had changed my mind on a lot of things. Going outside and lying down in the grass was one of the most beautiful feelings. Hearing the wind rustle the leaves in the trees and complete quiet around me was the best feeling imaginable. For once I didn't have to worry. I resigned as Grand Sage and was simply the Scribe again and I was living everyday to the fullest. Everyday with him.
"I finally found you."
I heard a light voice chuckle in the background, and light footsteps rustling in the grass beside me. I felt someone sit down in the grass beside me, lying their body down so our shoulders were touching. I peeked one eye open to see the blonde man lying in the grass beside me, his eyes glowing as he laid down on his side.
"What can I say? You picked the perfect spot to build our house together."
I smiled at Kaveh, shifting to lie on my side so I could look at him.
"I'm glad you enjoy it. These past few months have been-"
He started, but before he could finish his sentence I lightly pressed my lips to his, tasting the cherry on his lips as I gently pulled away. His mouth was slightly agape when I pulled away, the largest smile on his lips as he looked at me.
"They've been nothing short of perfect."
I whispered, looking into his ruby eyes as I gently brought my hand towards him. I entangled it in his blonde curls, running my fingers through them as he gently closed his eyes. The sun was reflecting across his skin and making him glow in an almost ethereal way, he looked so perfect I couldn't believe I was touching him.
"I know. I almost can't believe we've lived here for a few months. Everyday with you seems so perfect I can't believe everything with Drea happened months ago."
I gently scooted my body closer to him and planted a small kiss on his forehead, grabbing his hand in mine.
"You don't have to say her name anymore. She's so far in the past we don't need to think about her anymore. Nothing that happened was your fault, and you know that. Right?"
Our foreheads were touching at this point, the sun heating our bodies even more. I watched him nod and then look up at me, love filling his eyes.
"I know. You never let me believe it was my fault, not for a single second since we moved out here. I've never seen this side of you Haitham but I can promise you, I enjoy it."
As soon as he muttered the word Haitham, I rolled my eyes a bit. It was playful though, he knew I wasn't really angry at him. Since we had moved out here he had been calling me that nickname for some strange reason. If anyone else dared to call me that name I would drag my sword across their throat in a moment. Yet when he said it, it filled me with so much joy. Enough for a lifetime. A moment later, I watched Kaveh's body go rigid as he sat up, his eyes glowing with happiness.
"Chhaya! Come here Chhaya! Come here!"
He called into the leafy trees. I groaned, placing a hand over my head but I sat up with him nonetheless. I narrowed my eyes to see a small creature darting between the leaves, jumping through the dirt and charging through the clearing, charging towards us. It was a small fox creature with light tan fur and a dark brown tail. As soon as it heard Kaveh utter its name it charged towards us as fast as it could, bounding across the grass and straight into Kaveh's lap.
