An Elegy of a Lost Love

In the clutches of shadows, my love's demise,
Symptoms emerge, revealing bitter truth unkind,
Once tender touch, now frozen, love petrified,
A fervent blaze, now smothered, confined.

The echoes of laughter, now distant, forlorn,
Love's essence dissipates, lost, bereft,
A stranger's face, my heart torn,
Vacant gaze betrays words of death.

Beneath love's crushing weight, eternal night,
I bear this searing ache, heart poised to shatter,
Seeking strength to escape the blight,
To awaken my soul from this harrowing, lifeless matter.
