Babysitting A Hero (Choni)

Cheryl's POV

Toni- "You okay babe? Cheryl- "fine, why?" Toni- "I just know you haven't seen the twins in a while and them coming for the day could be weird" Cheryl- "It'll be fine T-T, sure it's been a couple months but they love us"

They were only four years old but they loved us. Juniper was always high energy where as Dagwood was more sheltered and quiet

We finished cleaning the living room and setting things up just before the doorbell rang. Toni- "that's them, want me to get it?" I nodded before kissing her cheek. She walked over and answered the door as I followed her

Polly- "hey! Thank you guys so much for watching them" Toni- "no problem Polly, we love having these kiddos" Juniper- "Auntie Toni!" Toni- "hey Junie" she jumped into Toni's arms as Dagwood ran over to me. Dagwood- "hi aunt Cheryl" Cheryl- (laughs) "hey Dagwood"

Polly- "alright. I'll be back later on and you two will be good for your aunties right?" They both nodded as I picked Dagwood up. Polly- "you guys are lifesavers"

She waved goodbye and left as Dagwood rested his head on my shoulder. Cheryl- "what's wrong buddy?" Dagwood- "I miss mommy" Cheryl- "I'm sorry bud, but we're gonna have so much fun today! How does that sound?" He shrugged as Toni carried Juniper in

Toni- "alright, what should we do first?" Juniper- "movie!" Cheryl- "I think we can make that happen, Dag?"

He didn't say anything, he just hid his head in my neck. We went over to the couch and turned on the Tv. We tried to ask Dagwood what he wanted but he didn't say anything so we let Juniper pick frozen

I kept Dag on my lap until about halfway through the movie when I picked him up and took him into the kitchen. I set him on the counter and grabbed him some milk and a cookie before I talked to him

Cheryl- "what's going on buddy, you seem upset" Dagwood- (in tears) "I miss mommy" Cheryl- "I know but there has to be something else going on" Dagwood- (sniffles) "I-I don't want to make you or mommy sad" Cheryl- "how buddy? I put my hand on his cheek and wiped the remaining tears off his face

Dagwood- "what happened to my daddy?"

I felt my eyes water as he lowered his head. Dagwood- (cries) "I-I'm sorry" I immediately hugged him tightly. Cheryl- (sniffles) "it's okay Dag, you're aloud to ask that question" I held him close to my heart and waited for him to calm down before answering his question.

Cheryl- (sniffles) "there was an accident Bud, do you know how auntie Toni and I are building a new house in a different area?" He nodded Cheryl- "well there w-was an old house there, but a fire started and your daddy couldn't get out in time" Dagwood- "did he love me?" Cheryl- "I know he did, because the reason he didn't get out was because he was saving you, Junie and your Mommy" Dagwood- "he was a hero?"

I nodded as her looked at me with a little smile. Dagwood- "thank you Auntie Cheryl, I didn't wanna make mommy said" Cheryl- "of course. and if there's anything else you want to ask, I can definitely try and answer them"

He nodded as Toni came in holding Juniper. Toni- "everything okay in here?" Cheryl- "yeah, Dagwood was just asking me a question" Dagwood- "can we watch Cars after?!" Toni- "well look whose finally chipper, sure can bud. C'mon"

I helped him off the counter before he ran and grabbed Toni's hand. She took them both into the living room as I grabbed a glass of water

After Toni made sure the twins were settled on the couch, she came back in to check on me. Toni- (softly) "you okay babe?" Cheryl- "um yeah, I guess so" Toni- (softly) "are you sure? I heard a little bit and I know how hard it is for you to talk about Jason" I sighed Cheryl- "It's been almost four years T-T, I need to start talking about it"

She kissed my hand then hugged me. Toni- "you know I'm here" Cheryl- (smiles) "yeah I know"

As soon as I pulled away, I placed a quick kiss on her lips before we heard Juniper scream from the living room. We ran in to see Dagwood standing in front of her, we looked over and saw a blonde lab standing on the other side of the room

Toni- "is that Vegas?" I nodded and ran over to the twins as Toni ran over to Vegas. A couple seconds after Betty came running in the living room. Betty- "oh my gosh guys I'm so sorry I didn't mean to let him off" she put Vegas back on his leash as Juniper and Dagwood let go of me

Juniper- "auntie Betty?" She stopped and looked at the twins as tears came to her eyes. Polly didn't really talk to any of the Coopers meaning she hadn't seen the twins in almost a year

Betty- (in tears) "J-Junie? Dag?" They nodded as Betty handed Vegas to Toni and came over to them. Juniper met Betty and hugged her tightly as Dagwood raised his arms for me to pick him up

Juniper- "I missed you!" Betty- (sniffles) "I've missed you too, I'm sorry I haven't talked to your mom and I really want to make amends" Juniper- "I just want to see you more" Dagwood- (softly) "me too" Betty looked up as he wiggeled out of my arms and ran over to her.

Betty- "s-so how long until Polly's back?" Toni- "probably a couple of hours" Betty- "would you guys mind if Vegas and I stayed? I just can't get Polly to talk to me. I just want to let her know that I'm sorry for whatever I did" Juniper- "please stay aunt Betty" Dagwood- "yeah" Cheryl- "definitely Be, you're always welcome"

She smiled as Dagwood started carefully walking over to Vegas. Dagwood- "c-can I pet him?" Betty- "of course, he's very friendly" she helped him and that made Junie more curious. The kids had a blast playing with Vegas and Betty for the rest of the day until Polly came back to pick them up

Polly- "Cher? Toni?" She walked into the living room and saw Toni Betty and I sitting there watching the twins playing with Vegas. Polly- "what are you doing here?" Betty- "I need to talk to you, please Pol I miss you and the twins" Polly- "fine lets go into the kitchen"

Betty got up and followed her out of the room as Dagwood ran up to me. Dagwood- "did you see me earlier aunt Cheryl? I protected Junie! I'm a hero just like daddy!" I smiled as a tear fell from my eye. Cheryl- "yeah Buddy, you are" I hugged him tightly.

Betty and Polly talked and figured out that Alice was trying to keep them apart. They made up and took the twins to Pop's while we kept Vegas with us

Toni- "so you okay?" Cheryl- "I love them, did you hear what Dag said to me earlier?" She shook her head. Cheryl- "he told me he saved Juniper just like his daddy did. I miss Jason but Dag reminds me so much of him" Toni- (smiles) "I love you" Cheryl- "I love you too"
