Breakfast the next morning went smoothly, the teams all blending together quicker than the year prior. The environment felt competitive yet amiable, all members of the camp getting along extremely well and offering advice when appropriate.

When lunch was near, the coaches decided to give the players half an hour to do matches with their choice of teams, allowing for different schools to play with each other and create new combinations. Y/N smiled brightly when she saw her best friend and boyfriend immediately look for each other, recruiting a few more people to join and play against them. She was about walk towards the court they had picked out when some of the other managers came over, inviting her to the cafeteria.

With one last glance in the boys' direction, Y/N caught Akaashi's eyes. She offered him a thumbs up before waving, smiling wide at the wave she got back. She tried her best not to stay in the gymnasium when she caught Izumi speaking to her boyfriend.

"You good, man?" Akaashi asked, playfully shoving Ennoshita as the players made their way to the cafeteria.

Ennoshita had a solemn look on his face any time he wasn't interacting with someone else. It differed very little from his typical sleepy/bored he wore, so not many people asked him about it. But the people closest to him did.

"Yeah," Ennoshita sighed, "I'm just kind of dreading talking to Amari later. I think this is gonna be it." He shook his head as if to refocus his energy. His eyes didn't look as dark, but it only lasted a couple seconds. It was like he couldn't help but frown, features being tugged down with the invisible weight of uneasiness. With a groan, Ennoshita rubbed his eyes with the the heels of his palms. "Things were going so well until they just... weren't."

Akaashi could only nod, patting his friend's back. "I'm sorry, dude. Anything you need from me and that one?"

Ennoshita looked over to see Y/N, bitterness pooling in his stomach when he saw Akaashi's wide smile, adoration evident in his face as he looked at his girlfriend. As quick as that feeling came, guilt followed immediately after.

With the best smile he could muster, Ennoshita shook his head. "I'll let you guys know, though."

Akaashi almost scoffed, looking up from his phone to meet Y/N's eyes. She stuck her tongue out at him before winking, blowing a kiss at him and smoothly returning to the conversation at her own table.

Grueling matches and drills began once more after lunch, and they continued until sundown. As soon as everyone was dismissed, one of the managers exclaimed that there were fireflies outside. Like excited children, the high schoolers rushed outside onto the grassy fields past the gyms, in awe of the blinking lights around them. Almost afraid to scare them away, everyone spoke in hushed voices, careful not to disturb the fireflies and ducking out of their flight path.

Y/N was crouched down near a small bed of flowers, practically holding her breath as she watched the greenish twinkles turn on and off as they flew amongst the flowers and grass. She didn't scare when she felt an arm come around her shoulders, instead leaning into the embrace and exhaling deeply.

She smiled when she felt Keiji's nose brush against her cheek, tilting her face to make his lips touch her skin. "Missed me?" Y/N gave a quick look in his direction, the feeling of content making her warm in a way the sun never could.

"Did I ever." The two watch the fireflies in silence until they flew to a less crowded area of the field. Y/N opted to fully sit herself on the grass, Keiji doing the same. "Did you miss me?"

Y/N feigned a disgusted look, laying back. "Uh-huh. So much." Keiji glared at her until her lips broke into a wide smile. "You know I did, you goof." He didn't miss her hesitation before she spoke again. "Though, it was nice to do our own thing today."

"I know what you mean," Keiji settled down beside her, head propped up on his hand. "It makes things feel normal, doesn't it?"

Y/N frowned but offered a small nod, looking up at the still darkening sky. Despite the pinkish hue on one side of the sky, the moon seemed to be out in full swing. Some stars were beginning to twinkle, almost boasting about how bright they could be.

The distant sounds of students' conversations made a sense of peace wash between the two as they enjoyed the feeling of the other there. Keiji silently took Y/N's hand, playing with the ring on her finger. Neither of the two were sure how much time passed before their stomachs  began to signal hunger. It's when they stand that Y/N realized the sky was completely dark now.

She allowed Keiji to pull her up, playfully collapsing into his chest. "I love you."

"I love you more, sweet girl," Keiji cooed, smoothing out her tousled hair. He kissed her sweetly and swiftly before guiding her to the concrete path.

They're surprised to see there weren't any groups hanging around the facilities. The two talked of their days quietly and comfortably, in no rush to make it to dinner. Y/N was laughing at a story Keiji was telling her when they both stilled at the sound of shouting. It's like they read the other's mind, lazy stroll turning into a speed walk to evade the unknown situation. The frustrated, raised voice became louder as they continued. The two couldn't help but peek into each building they passed, curious as to what the cause of the commotion could be.

Once again, the two stilled when the voice became clearer. They unashamedly stood at the entrance to one of the gyms, frozen when they met Chikara's eyes.

"If that's what you want, fine. But don't feed me bullshit. Either give me the real explanation, or don't bother, Amari." The couple watched Ennoshita's expression of annoyance turn into one of hurt, sadness. He locked eyes with Y/N, pinched brows making him look so unlike himself. "That is fucked in so many ways." Ennoshita hung up the call, body so obviously tense. It almost looked painful.

"Are you okay?" Y/N stepped forward, worried. Keiji could see the look of anger in their friend's eyes, and he protectively stepped in front of Y/N. Alarms were going off in his head. "Keiji, what-"

"Did you know she liked you?" Ennoshita looked so desperate, so angry. Betrayal was written all over him, evident in his voice as well. When Y/N gaped at him without responding, he asked again.

"What.. What are you talking about?" Y/N sputtered. "That's so-"

"Ridiculous? Messed up? Tell me about it," Ennoshita scoffed, turning away and heading towards the exit on the opposite side.
