Quinn woke up to the sound of the Puckermans yelling. She opened her eyes and saw she was in an empty bed, so she got up, put on her robe, and sleepily headed downstairs.
"Morning."
"Morning." Quinn repeated. "What's going on?"
"I hope we didn't wake you up."
Quinn shook her head. "What's going on?"
"Noah thinks he can move our mother here against her will without a conversation." Sarah stated. "And against my will."
"Quinn doesn't want me here." Ruth added. "The house is full."
"The house is far from full, and if Noah and I can help at all, we would be happy to." Quinn told Ruth as she looked at Puck. "And I'm sure the kids would really love seeing you everyday."
"Told you." Puck mumbled to his mom and sister.
"Well, of course she's gonna say that on the spot." Isaac said. "Sarah and I have everything under control, really."
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Puck demanded.
"Noah." Quinn said softly.
"No." Puck shook his head. "No, this jackass doesn't get to come into our house and act like he knows what you're gonna say. Or what's best for my mom."
"Our mom." Sarah muttered.
"I've been taking care of her my whole life." Puck continued. "So I think I'd know better than the two of you, and I'm more equipped to handle this financially."
"And why do you think we never told you, Noah?" Sarah questioned Puck.
Puck looked at her.
"Because you don't have to take care of her or me anymore." Sarah said. "You have to take care of your kids and yourself. I'm gonna do whatever I can for Mom, but I'm not gonna let anything happen to you, your health, or your family."
"That's not up to you." Puck argued.
"Mom and I made the agreement together." Sarah stated as she folded her arms. "I'm her healthcare proxy."
"What?!" Puck exclaimed, looking at Ruth for an explanation. "Are you serious?"
"I never asked you to take care of me, Noah." Ruth reminded Puck. "You just always assumed it was your job - that you had to be the man of the house."
"I did." Puck insisted. "Dad was gone, and we needed money, and I had to take care of both of you."
"Well, you don't now." Ruth stated. "I don't want you carrying that burden anymore, especially not after everything you've been through."
Puck furrowed his eyebrow.
"Sarah, Isaac, and I are staying for a week or two to visit, and then we're going back to New York." Ruth informed Puck.
"Sarah said your treatments in New York aren't working." Puck noted. "Which is why you should stay here and find new doctors and-"
"I'm tired of all the doctors, Noah." Ruth interrupted. "I'm tired. I just want to be."
"So you're just gonna give up and die?" Puck asked.
"Noah." Sarah scolded.
"None of this is making sense." Puck said. "Quinn and I have money and we have access to the best of the best. We can help you."
"I don't want your help or your money." Ruth told Puck.
"So what, you're gonna spend a week or two with your grandkids and then go back to New York to die?" Puck questioned Ruth.
"Noah, why don't we finish this conversation later when we're all calm?" Quinn whispered softly.
"I'm calm." Puck swore as he looked at his mom and sister. "No, if this is how it's gonna be, then you guys should just fly back to New York now. I don't think it's a good idea to be around the kids right now. Quinn can get you a car back to the airport."
"Noah." Quinn said softly as he walked out of the room.
"Can you try to talk some sense into him?" Sarah requested.
Quinn gave Sarah a look before leaving the room and following Puck upstairs.
"Morning." Beth said as Puck hurried up the stairs.
Puck ignored Beth and continued walking.
"Morning, sorry." Quinn apologized as she followed Puck. "If you wait for me, I'll introduce you to everyone."
Beth nodded and followed Quinn and Puck upstairs. Puck locked himself in his room, and Beth turned to Quinn, who stopped outside the bedroom door. "Is Noah okay?"
"Let's just give him a minute." Quinn decided. "Do you wanna come down and meet everyone? We can talk over breakfast."
"Sure." Beth decided.
"Okay." Quinn said, taking a deep breath and exhaling. "Come on."
The girls headed downstairs and returned to the kitchen, where the Puckermans remained.
"Noah and I will talk later. This is Beth." Quinn introduced her. "Beth, this is Noah's mother, Ruth, and his sister, Sarah. And Isaac, Sarah's boyfriend."
"I can't believe you're eighteen." Sarah said. "I feel old."
"Sarah was almost nine when you were born." Quinn informed Beth.
"Did you come to the hospital to meet me?" Beth wondered.
"No." Sarah shook her head. "I wanted to, but Noah told us not to come."
Beth nodded slowly.
"It's nice to finally meet you." Ruth smiled. "You look so much like Noah."
"I keep hearing that." Beth smiled back. "It's nice to meet all three of you, too."
"The kids should be getting up soon, so I'm gonna start breakfast." Quinn decided as she heard Puck stomp down the stairs. "Babe?"
The front door slammed and everyone looked at Quinn.
"Sarah, why don't you take Isaac and Beth to wake up the kids?" Quinn suggested.
"Sure." Sarah nodded as she led the way.
Quinn walked around the kitchen, gathering ingredients for breakfast and starting to make it. Over the years, she had learned how to get through to Ruth, and she was being strategic.
"I know what you're gonna say." Ruth broke the silence.
Quinn glanced at her and continued cooking.
"You're gonna say don't put Noah through this, just come here and let him help." Ruth stated.
Quinn ignored Ruth and continued making breakfast.
"Quinn." Ruth said.
"What?" Quinn asked. "What do you want me to say?"
"Was Isaac wrong?" Ruth wondered.
"Isaac had no right saying what I think or why I think it." Quinn stated. "But I've known you a long time, Ruth. And if now you wanna give up the fight and quit, that's your business."
"Quit?" Ruth repeated. "You think this is-"
"This isn't the fight to lose." Quinn interrupted. "This is the fight to fight."
"Is that what you would do?" Ruth questioned Quinn. "Fight?"
"I didn't go through hell and back my entire life to give up when I'm finally happy with my husband, children, and career." Quinn explained. "I'm a fighter, and so are you. Noah just wants you to think about it because, contrary to what you might think, he loves you and he wants you to live a long life."
