On a Break (Quick)

"Hey." Quinn said as entered the apartment.

"Hey." Puck repeated. "I came straight home after you called. Everything okay?"

Quinn nodded.

Puck nodded back as Quinn closed the door behind her.

"You're not pregnant, are you?" Puck asked, trying to break the tension.

"No." Quinn said softly with a small smile. "I'm not."

Puck smiled back. "Come sit down."

"Okay." Quinn responded. She joined Puck on the couch, picking at her nails nervously.

"Q, it's me." Puck reminded Quinn as he put his hand over hers. "You can talk to me about anything."

"Not this." Quinn shook her head as she pulled away and stood up. She took a deep breath and looked at Puck.

"Whatever it is, we can-"

"I think we need to slow down." Quinn interrupted.

Puck furrowed his eyebrows. "Slow down?"

"I'm not ready to get married." Quinn blurted. "I thought I was, but..."

"Having cold feet is normal." Puck pointed out, pausing for a moment before getting up. "Is this about me? I mean, did I do something? 'Cause we've lived together before, and I know it sucked, but our marriage isn't gonna be like that."

"I know." Quinn said. "This isn't because of you. I thought I was ready for our future."

"Did you cheat on me?" Puck questioned Quinn.

"What? No, of course not." Quinn swore. "You really think after all this time, I'd cheat on you?"

"I just don't get where this is coming from." Puck stated.

"I didn't do anything." Quinn promised. "And neither did you."

Puck looked at Quinn.

"I still love you, and I wanna be with you, but I'm not ready for these next steps." Quinn explained.

"But we've talked about it." Puck said.

"I know." Quinn sighed. "And I'm sorry. This is confusing for me, too."

Puck didn't say anything.

"I think we should take a break." Quinn continued. "I need some time."

"Yeah." Puck agreed. "Let's just take a break."

Quinn nodded.

"I'm gonna get out of here." Puck decided.

"I'm the one that wants a break, so I should be the one to go." Quinn replied.

Puck shook his head. "This was your place before it was ours. I'll stay at Jake's 'til you're ready to talk or see me or whatever."

Quinn nodded slowly. "I love you."

"I love you, too." Puck nodded back before leaving.

"So how are the wedding plans going?"

"They're actually on pause for now." Quinn confessed.

"On pause? Uh oh." Rachel muttered.

"I don't feel like I'm ready to get married." Quinn stated.

"What did Puck say?" Rachel wondered.

"You should've seen the look on his face when we talked about taking a break." Quinn said. "He was crushed. And then he asked if I cheated."
