I ran around the corner to the rest of the team. Thrax was gone, thankfully. But I knew he would come back at one point. Hopefully, not now. Celeste lay on the ground shrieking and crying in pain with the edge of Thrax's tendrils clinging to her leg, relentlessly holding on.

"Back away!" I say as everyone watches helplessly.

I've been stabbed by Thrax's tendrils before—once by accident, the second time I was asking for it, but I won't get into that—so I know what to do. Thrax, like all viruses, was venomous. Even after his tendrils had been ripped off, they were slowly pumping poison into her leg.

"Alright, I'm going to pull it off!" I say.

"No, no, no!" Celeste screams.

"3...2...1..." I pulled the end of the tendril off her leg.

Celeste screeches in pain. Slime from the tendril, and Celeste's blood drips onto the concrete. I feel terrible for her. Amaya exclaims in disgust as the end of the tendril begins crawling away. Glamour stabs one of her chakrams into the creature, ending it for good.

"Holy sh*t..." Terri says, watching the remains of the creature.

"Hey, you're okay; you're okay," I say, pulling Celeste into a hug. "Calm down."

Celeste cries into my arms, and I caress her hair.

"Where's Terry?" Terri says.

"What? I thought she was behind me. Go check."

The rest of the team turns back around, leaving me and Celeste who refuses to let me go.

"You're a brave girl."

Celeste shudders, "Thank you, but you didn't have to do that."

I remember her kiss from two weeks ago and kiss her back on the lips. It's longer and more perfect this time. Celeste wraps her arms around me.

"You're my world," I say.

"I love you, too," Celeste responds.

We kissed again.

"Hey, guys, Terry is gone-" Amaya begins. She pauses. "Whoa, how long has that been going on?"

"Shut up," I say.

"What do you mean Terry's gone again?" Celeste says.
