Maxine's point of view

In the middle of the night when darkness was the only thing that filled the hospital not even the moon was bright enough to illuminate it. My eyes shot wide open as I gasped and my heart was only beating faster. Regulus who sat on the bed, turned to look at me as I felt his faint fingers touch my forehead almost as a father would touch their child. I felt rather sweaty under the sheets. My forehead filled with coldness at his touch, "Are you alright? It seems you had a nightmare." I sighed as I heard Regulus soft voice as I took deep breaths to calm myself. I can still see that demon who gave me the most wicked smile at me before it had disappeared. The smile it gave me was enough to shake me to my core. The darkness of the room didn't make it any better as I sat up. I took in my surroundings as I gently touched my throat which felt slightly more better. I thought back to my encounter with the demon that I saw. "Perhaps I have the ability to touch spirits back..." I mumbled to myself as even Regulus was able to hear me in my low voice.

"That might be the case. You might be able to do more things with your ability that you aren't even aware of yourself." He spoke as I nodded. I haven't really tried to know the things I was capable of with the abilities I was given. No, I was too afraid to learn more but the day will come when I'll need to confront my fears. Perhaps not now but soon I'll have to face them head on. "You need to go back to sleep. You need rest and time to heal your wounds." He spoke as I nodded once again before laying down I whispered to him, "You'll keep me safe right." If Regulus wasn't here as my guardian I wouldn't know what to do. Perhaps my body would have already been possess by now if I didn't have him to help me. And just perhaps I wouldn't be able to sleep especially with that demon roaming. As my head hit the pillow the last thing I saw was Regulus nodding and a low voice saying of course.

I woke up hearing faint voices as the bright light of the sun shone through my closed eyelids. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had come to visit me as they hushed each other in fear to wake me as Harry turned to look at me, "Maxine your awake are you feeling alright? I heard what happened." His voice full of worry that it was enough to make me feel bad that I made him worry about me. "I'm alright I feel better compared to yesterday." I smiled

"You have a nasty bruise on your neck, Maxine." Spoke Ron as I nodded while Hermione lightly shoved Ron aside and she took a seat beside me. "Who could have done that to you Maxine." My mind had gone blank and yet I knew well enough that I didn't have a good enough excuse.

"I don't know... it happened so fast. The next thing I knew was that I was being dragged and I almost fainted." The three of them nodded as Hermione was about to ask another question while Ron's face was filled with fear.  I was lucky enough to be saved by Madam Pomfrey. Or so I thought as she shoved a drink in my hand that smelled awfully disgusting, "Drink this it'll make you feel better." My face filled with repulse as I shook my head before taking a small sip. As soon as I did I pulled my head away from the drink as my tongue filled with this really bitter flavor that had an aftertaste.

"There's no way I'm drinking this. Don't you have anything better than this?!"

"That's the best thing we have here so you better drink it unless you want to keep feeling pain." She spoke in a stern voice as I grunted.

"You have to drink it to get well Maxine. We can't have you getting more worse than you are." Harry spoke with an expression full of concern that it made me take a second look at the drinking before drinking it all at once as I shook out of disgust. I stood up patting myself down and fixing the uniform I still had on.

"You shouldn't get up all of a sudden Miss Potter." Said Pomfrey in her stern voice.

"I'm already doing better besides I don't want to stay here" I spoke back as I scanned the room which gave me chills and goosebumps. There was something in the corner and I wasn't going to stay any longer. "Miss Potter you're still injured I can let you walk out." "That's right Max. It'll be safer here." Spoke Harry as the two others nodded beside him.
