Chapter 14 Wordless

"Brother Blue!" cried Yim as he saw him coming out of the temple, "Wait!" his feet rushed to him, "There you are! Why weren't you at the meeting? Monk Nobit told us about his travels. It's unbelievable how many temples he's visited," Yim shook his head in fascination.

And he looked at Blue with wide eyes.

He was still hoping to hear Blue's voice.

But Blue's appearance merely spoke wordlessly.

And even at that moment, his tender smile was to be his answer.

A calm look and soft, silent lips were given to him.

"You already know his stories!" understood Yim, "And what have you been doing during that time?" he asked.

Blue held his hands together like a book.

"You've been reading. What are you reading?", Yim approached and looked at Blue's palms.

And Blue's lips formed an even wider smile.

And his hands put themselves together in a wai.

"Oh, come on!" grumbled Yim, "I'm all bored without you!" he pouted, "When are you going to talk again?" he saw Blue close his eyes, "All right! I'll find someone else to talk to then. Someone will show me around. Someone will take care of the new guy," Yim provoked and saw Blue open his eyes again.

And his look was so full of gentle dismay that Yim started laughing.

"I'm joking!", Yim explained to his brother, "You will speak again sometime, won't you?", he looked at him quite humbly.

And Blue closed his eyes again and opened his hands to all the spheres.

And Yim felt the aura of love gently wafting.

Brother Blue's open gesture for the spheres of all worlds made him feel left out.

"I'll leave you to it then!" he turned.

A fortnight ago Blue had awoken from his trance.

Not a word since.

Yim had asked the monks several times why.

And each time the answer was more like a lecture.

The ways of self-knowledge.

The journey into oneself.

Abstinence.

Only a wordless mind could get to the bottom of some questions.

The teachings of spiritual meditation.

Yim always tuned out while the monks explained Blue's vow of silence to him.

He just couldn't understand what made Blue do it.

For so long.

What was he looking for?

And, why did he exclude Yim from the search?

He had just felt he had arrived.

Only, Blue was probably not in the same place now.

And when his legs just wanted to run away, Blue held his arm.

Yim turned and showed his disappointed face.

And again he couldn't resist that warm smile.

How could Brother Blue dispel all his resentful feelings with just a smile.

And this time his boredom was to be dispelled too.

Blue pulled him behind him.

Into the temple.
