I find the Pyramids of Egypt fascinating and mysterious. The Pyramids are man-made structures that are both the largest and oldest of all time. They exist today, for thousands of years, longer than any of humanity. There are many mysteries surrounding the pyramids, many of which have been studied, but some remain unclear, one being how the pyramids were built or the methods used to compile the blocks of stone. It is acknowledged that ramps were used, sleds were likely used as well, yet how they achieved this feat remains difficult to clarify. Not only are the blocks massive and heavy, but the buildings are significantly tall. It takes an incredible amount of energy and fortitude to perform the lifting, transporting, and placing of millions of stone. Did the ancient Egyptians quarry, transport, and place these millions of stones? Did they navigate rugged terrains and extreme environments? Did they have resources? Did they manage a large workforce? These are only a few of the unanswered questions that keep historians, researchers, and archaeologists striving for understanding.

Today what no certainly know is how the ancient Egyptians moved the gargantuan stone blocks for the pyramids up the steep ramps. Ramps are the generally accepted method of transportation, but how they carried the blocks up the ramp is still unknown. There are many theories that have been presented including sleds, rollers, or some other method of transportation and without authentic ancient written records, it is difficult to prove which is more likely. Moving such heavy and gigantic objects up steep inclines, without damaging and rolling over is astonishing, which still leaves rich searchers, engineers, and scientists scratching their heads today? The ancient Egyptians were progressively overcoming overcome challenges and the physics involving friction, gravity, inertia and seven other physical force vectors, which what they believed were their set of physical overcomes that had to be tackled somehow if the Egyptians could emphasize the limits of physics? How did the Egyptians keep the blocks from slipping or rolling back down the ramps? All worthy of speculation still today!

Throughout history, various theories have been suggested for how the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids, but none have been proven or disproven. One idea suggests that a spiral ramp was used, which would allow the blocks to be moved up gradually instead of lifted too high, plus providing stability, support and weight as the pyramid grew. There are some scholars whose challenge to the spiral ramp theory states that there was not enough material and labor to build and dismantale. They believed there was no evidence archeologically that ramps were ever existing. Another theory was a series of short ramps on each side of the pyramid, which allowed the horizontal blocks and the vertical blocks to be moved up the pyramid in stages. However there were also challenges to this theory such as the need to align the blocks precisely, as well as the corners and angles. Of course, these are a fraction of the theories submitted for possible methods of how the pyramids would have been built, but none have been accepted as the comprehensive solution.

The Pyramids of Egypt are not only remarkable structures, but are also still unsolved mysteries. They tell us much about the ancient Egyptian civilization, culture, and religion, but still much is concealed. They compel us to learn and discover, but they also resist and reject our teachings and dissemination. They move us with their beauty and magnitude, but they also humiliate us with their complexity and mystery. They illustrate great human genius and creativity, but they also remind us of our limitations and ignorance.

These strange events have compelled me to broaden my view and stop thinking so narrowly. They have forced me to question my preconceptions and assumptions, to look for alternatives and consider different perspectives. They have opened my mind up to the possibility that there are limitless things still to discover and understand about the world and the universe. There may be things, or realities, occurring that we do not or cannot understand right now, but that doesn't mean they aren't possible or are any less real. Therefore, I also want to acknowledge that science is continuously progressing and changing, and what may presently seem weird or unproven may eventually turn out to be verified and well-understood. Science is not a set, never-changing truth; it is a process of investigation and exploration that is open to new evidence, new interpretations, and is willing to adapt or discard its previous models and theories when it demonstrates something wrong or incomplete. Science is not a closed system that relies on dogma; it is an open system that appreciates curiosity.
