1. Spirit Umbrellas don't help if you're not a spirit.
'Ugh.' I had been getting these annoying flashbacks ever since the...incident... yesterday.
I rubbed my temple and started to look for the clearing Soobin had led me to.
My memory was usually pretty good, so why couldn't I remember even a single significant landmark near the clearing. I sped up. By this time, I was basically running throughout this specific area of the neighborhood. But, there was nothing.
Nothing.
'Plip!'
'Huh?? Rain?!'
"Crap-"
I wasn't prepared.
"Eep!" The rain fell harder.
I covered my head with my hands. 'Why does today have to be the one day I don't wear a hoodie?' I slowed down as I didn't want to slip. The rain was falling heavily, and I tried to cover my hair with my hands. I was already quite far from my house, approximately on the other side of the block. By the time I would get back to my house, I would be completely soaked.
I sped up again, trying to beat the rain in a race of speed. Obviously, I lost.
Panting from exhaustion, I mentally cursed myself. I should have tried harder in P.E...
Someone grabbed my arm and dragged me behind a random shed. I closed my eyes and screamed, trying to kick the person.
"Ow! Some way to treat the person who saved you..." they grumbled. That voice...could it be? I hesitantly opened my eyes and saw...Soobin holding me underneath an umbrella.
"Soobin?" I asked. He grinned.
"Hey."
I stood there for a couple of seconds.
"Why am I getting rained on if there's a fricking umbrella?"
"What do you mean- oH-" His mouth dropped open. "I guess, since it's a spirit umbrella and you're not a spirit..."
"WAIT SO YOU MEAN I'M GETTING WET!?!"
"Uh...yeah"
"EUAAGHHHHHHH" I screamed. I grabbed Soobin's hand and ran through the streets again, finally reaching my house. We collapsed in the living room.
"UGHHHHHH" I glared at Soobin. "This is all your fault-"
"WhAT!?" Soobin exclaimed, propping himself up on his elbows. "How is it MY fault?"
"Who are you talking to?" My mum asked while entering the room. I did some quick thinking and brought my phone up to my face.
"Oh sorry guysssss," I said, "I have to leave I just reached home byeeee!" I looked back at my mum and gave her a sheepish smile, "Sorry! I was just chatting with my school friends!"
"Oh alright," Mom responded, "I'm going to go take a nap. Go do whatever you want in your room." She raised an eyebrow. "Also you're soaked. Go change."
"Alright!" I said getting up on my feet. I softly jerked my head toward my room, signaling Soobin to go to my room with me. "Whoo! That was a close one" I laughed. Soobin grinned at me with a mischievous look in his eyes.
"You know...I could have made myself appear to your mom... she wouldn't be able to touch me but..." I gasped and started whacking Soobin playfully.
"You-"
Whack
"could-"
Whack
"have-"
Whack
"appeared to-"
Whack
"people-"
Whack
"all-"
Whack
"THIS TIME!?!" I whacked Soobin once more.
"Sorry!" He yelped, "Dang that hurt...you're so vicious-"
"Wait," I said, "If you can make yourself appear, then are you making yourself appear to me right now?" Soobin shook his head.
"Nope, I'm in my spirit form right now. No regular human should be able to see me..."
That made me wonder. If I wasn't like a regular human, what was I?
