Your parents died when you were young and you ran off into the woods because the man from CPS scared you, you had no idea what you were in for in those woods,
As you wandered around you heard alarms in the distance your heart was racing, you ran and hid in a cave you passed earlier and curled up with your head hidden in your knees
An hour passed and you had stopped crying, now just trying to stay warm as the sun had gone down when you heard footsteps outside of where you were, so looked out towards the entrance of the cave and saw a dark figure, you ran and hid under some brush in the back of the cave, tears cascading down your face again,
The figure walked into the cave, he started looking around, probably for evidence that anything lived there, he walked towards you, unaware of you as you stayed silent, he picked up some of the brush by you, inspecting it, before picking up the piece you were under,
You stared at him with big doe eyes as he watched you with curiosity and concern, he had a white bird like mask on and he look scary, you were shaking like a leaf, "what's wrong little girl? Why are you out here it's dangerous?"
He asked, You couldn't answer but his voice was velvety and it was calming you down,
"Where are your parents?" He asked, "d-dead, the CPS man scared me, so I ran away, a-and I'm lost" you said quietly as you started sobbing,
He looked at you with concern and his shoulders dropped as he put down the brush beside him, "your going to have to stay with me for now, you can't be alone out here..." He whispered calmly, but you could tell he was concerned,
You looked at him and sniffled before you hugged him tightly, bunching the leather like cloak he was wearing in your small hands, as he awkwardly puts his arms around you and pats your back gently as you sob, he holds you until you calm down, and then he lets you go and starts to make a fire,
When the fire is started he turns back to you, "when was the last time you ate?" He asked gently, "at breakfast yesterday" you say quietly, your knees against your chest as you sit in front of the fire, tears slowly falling down your face,
He pulled a protein bar out of his cloak and handed it to you, "I'm going to get something to eat, I need you to stay here, ok?" He asked, and you nodded before he stood up and went to go outside,
He was back twenty minutes later with a dead rabbit, it would have bothered you a while ago, but your dad liked to hunt, you walked over to him as he cleaned the rabbit with a scalpel, "why are you using a doctor knife?" You asked curiously
"I only have doctors knives, and we have to make do with what we have" he said quietly, "I have a pocket knife, I took it from the police man before I ran away" you say, handing him a switch blade,
He looks at you surprised, "well, arent you a resourceful girl?" He said, still shocked and concerned but now a little proud, probably happy you didn't go into the woods unarmed, even if you didn't know how to use the weapon,
"Rabbit is good, my daddy used to make rabbit on Wednesdays after he went to target practice" you say looking at the rabbit focused as he finished cleaning it and got a stick to cook it on
"Was your father a hunter?" He asked, "yeah, he would go every few months with his work friends" you say quietly as the strange man held two sticks with large portions of rabbit meat over a fire,
"Interesting..." He said as he seemed focused on watching the entrance of the cave, as you noticed he had a lot of blood on him for someone who had only killed a rabbit, and your brain started working, "mister? why are you so bloody? you only killed a rabbit, and you broke its neck" you said with your head tilted,
