I stopped when I heard Bentleyʼs voice. Slowly turned to him. I swallowed the lump in my throat when I saw his eyes widen in shock and his mouth slightly open. I could see in his expression the extreme amazement and disbelief.

“Bentley...” usal ko.

I ran toward him when I noticed his condition. Carefully observed his face which was full of bruises, his left eye was black and the corner of his lips was also cracked.

“Letʼs get out of here!”

I took his left arm and put it on my shoulder para makaakbay sa akin. I held his back to help him walk to his car.

Nahihirapan siyang maglakad. He cursed a lot when his wound suddenly hurt.

While Alyas Bitong remained standing there, watching the two of us walk away from them. His face showed surprise when he looked directly at me. Iʼm sure he also watched how I knocked out his men.

A playful smile appeared on his lips.

He could have stopped us from escaping dahil mukhang may natitira pa siyang lakas, but he just let us go because he hoped we would meet again.

And when we meet again, Bitong... Iʼll make sure that Iʼm the one to fight you.

I opened the door for him in the driverʼs seat and helped him get inside. After I closed the door, I immediately turned around to get into the passenger seat. If only I knew how to drive, ako na ang papalit sa kanya, especially since I know heʼs not doing well right now.

“Are you going to kill me?!” singhal ko sa kanya bago umayos sa pagkakaupo.

His eyes were focused on the road as he drove seriously.

“How did you learn to fight?

I was stunned because I didnʼt expect that. Nangangalap ako ng sagot but in the end, I just looked away without saying anything.

He glanced at me, as if waiting for my answer.

I took a deep breath before speaking. “Marunong lang ako mag self-defense.” I quickly answered. “I joined taekwondo before so... I know something about martial arts,” I added.

He laughed mockingly while shaking his head. “I donʼt believe you.”

His attention was still focused on the road. “Based on what I witnessed how you fight those men, I know you are hiding something.”

He got serious. “Now tell me... who are you?” This time, nilingon na niya ako.

“My name is—”

“Iʼm not asking your name,” he interrupted me.

I shut my mouth and didnʼt speak again. Weʼre not close enough to let him know my whole personality.

“Iniiba mo naman ang usapan,” he said irritated as he turned the car into the other direction.

“Sino nga?!” pangungulit ko pa. I just want to confirm if my suspicions are correct.

“Si Archard.”

I was stunned for a moment when he mentioned that young manʼs name. So he is the leader of Section Gang? Well, thatʼs not surprising because I noticed that he was always followed by everyone.

But I really thought that Braxton was the leader of their group dahil sa ipinakita niyang kagaspangan ng ugali na animoʼy isang tigre na naghahari sa buong kagubatan.

Sinulyapan ko si Bentley. I know he wants to ask me a lot more but he prefers to keep quiet, because he knows that I will just avoid his intrigues.

His left hand was holding the steering wheel while the other hand was clutching the bleeding wound.

“Kaya mo pa ba?” I canʼt help but worry about his condition now.

Nakangiwi siyang tumango ngunit hindi ako kumbinsido.

“Iʼll take you to the hospital. Baka maubusan ka ng dugo,” I suggested, noticing that his wound was bleeding non-stop. The fist he was holding was covered in blood.

He stopped the car and then turned to me with a wide grin. “Are you concerned about me?” patuyang tanong niya.

I looked outside and noticed that the sky was getting dark. Thatʼs when I realized that I hadnʼt even called or texted Manong Danilo. Maybe lʼll just explain to them when I get home.

We didnʼt say a word until we reached the Mill Village without realizing it. My mind was too occupied so I donʼt know how we got inside when the policy here is strict.

The car stopped in front of our gate. I was surprised because I thought he only saw Brinley here inside the Mill Village. He didnʼt say that right here in front of our house!

He turned off the engine and unbuckled his seat belt. He was about to open the door but I stopped him.

Binalingan niya ako ng nagtatakang tingin.

“Donʼt go out.”

“Why?”

“Wala bang thank you riyan?” pahabol niyang tanong.

Ngumisi ako. “Thank you, ah! Dahil sa ‘yo muntik na akong mapahamak kanina,” I responded sarcastically before slamming the door shut.
