"Have you even talked to Bonnie?" questioned Elio as he and Caroline were walking towards the school arms linked while Elena walked on the other side of the blonde.

"No, I'm mad at her. She needs to make the first move."

"Be the bigger person" tried Elena as well but it seemed Caroline wasn't budging.

"Impossible in her presence."

"Why are you so pissed at her anyway?" asked Elio looking at her which made the blonde sigh and rant.

"She's a thief, that's why. I gave her my necklace, and she refuses to give it back. It's a matter of principle."

"All right. Well, I tried. I'm officially out of it" sighed Elio which made Caroline nod in agreement.

"Good. Your turn. Where's Stefan?" asked Caroline turning to Elena. "Have you talked to him?"

"He's avoiding me. And us."

"Why?" asked Caroline confused looking at Elena first but then turned to Elio, but it seemed both of them hesitated for a moment on how to answer it until Elio blurted out only to be saved by the bell.

"It's complicated. I'll see you later."

"Bye" smiled Caroline and as the twins left she ran into Matt which brought a smile on her face.

"Hey!"

"Hey" the casual and dismissive attitude disappointed the blonde and made her stare at Matt for a while before she turned around and walked away to her next class.

It was time for their history lesson, Elio and Elena sat close to each other and waited when suddenly Bonnie rushed in but she looked nervous and anxious at the same time. However before either of the twins could have addressed her an unfamiliar man walked into the room and addressed everyone present.

"Good Morning everyone. Alrighty."

The man began to write his name on the chalkboard, this gave an opportunity for Elio to turn next to him looking at Bonnie and mouth: "Are you okay?" However to his disappointment Bonnie shrugged not giving much of an explanation. Before he could have pushed further the newcomer stopped writing and turning around began addressing the class again.

"Alaric Saltzman. It's a mouthful, I know. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Saltzman is of German origins. My family emigrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston. Now the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather I will never be able to thank enough. You'll probably want to pronounce "Alaric" but it's "Alaric", okay? So, you can call me Rick. I'm your new history teacher."

Elio was intrigued by this new person and listened intently during class. If there ever was a question his hand flew up immediately which after a while made Alaric smile. Once the class was over Elena and Bonnie left together but as they were leaving Elio stopped and walking to Alaric stopped at his desk.
