five hours of me patiently waiting... okay, I wasn't as patient as Maya wanted me to be. The route was scenic for the most part, we'd filled her car with bags and food. Apparently, we needed to buy wood and matches, I swear if we end up in a tent! Throughout the drive, she played music from a playlist she'd compiled for our travels. She'd apparently started this playlist the same night we'd met, I guess I made quite the impression on her. There was plenty of Italian music that I recognised as well as pretty much any genre you could think of. She'd put a pillow on my lap so that I could have a nap whenever I wanted to, I don't know how she's able to drive after such a long shift. I'd slept, the pillow was my friend for a few hours. I felt safe, my hand was held lightly by her for the whole time.

When we arrived, I wasn't sure what to expect. There was a long drive with a tonne of potholes, some the size of a rowboat. She expertly missed all of them, seemingly knowing exactly where they were. It took 10 minutes to go deep into the woods before we came across an opening. There was a large wooden house peeking through the high trees, trimmed grass surrounding a long paved path to a front house.

"I think it's about time my fiancée sees my second home" she whispered as she opened my car door for me, searching for my hand to direct me. She had a different smile, there was a hint of nostalgia as she looked around.

"I guess I'll need a tour" I whisper back and her smile only grows bigger. Tugging my hand, we hastily walk avoiding the puddles until we reach the door. She unlocked the door fairly quickly but took a deep breath before opening it. The lights flickered on immediately and I couldn't help but gasp. This house was beautiful, she'd kept the feel of a cabin with the wood burners, but it still had a modern twist. She started to lead me through every room, the kitchen was what I would consider a dream.

Eventually we made it to the main bedroom, an ensuite built just next to it for privacy. We'd already come across two other rooms, she'd wanted to use them as spare rooms but with the talk of children, that idea has changed. She'd talked animatedly about how the rooms could look once we have children, it was adorable. Anyway, the main bedroom was beautiful, she'd told me everything was bespoke.

The ensuite was also beautiful, the tub catching my eye as soon as we entered. "This is beautiful" I whispered, apparently that was the only volume my voice would allow.

"The house or the tub, I can see you eyeing it up" she whispered back with a proud smile gracing her lips.

"both" I replied and she pulled me into a sweet and soft kiss. A kiss that represented the love, familiarity, and trust between us.

"Now, I will tell you a small secret. I built this tub" she whispers, not knowing how to respond I pull her into a searing kiss. So passionate that within seconds I'm carried over to the bed and she'd crawled on top of me.

"Maybe I should make more things if this is the reception I get from it" she says teasingly as her hands find my thighs, softly stroking them as we gaze into each other's eyes.

"I guess you're the lumberjack of my dreams" I whispered, comfortable silence filled the air for a few seconds.

"Shit, the food! You sit there and look pretty. I'll get everything in before it really rains" she exclaims, I look out the window from my position and see that it's already raining.

"I think it's raining" I say back, and she scowls for a second.

"I guess the lumberjack of your dreams has to prove how strong she is" she all but flexes her muscles in a teasing manner as she speaks.

"Maybe we can try out that tub after you're finished" I tease, moving a hand to the back of her neck, softly playing with her golden hair. She sighs quietly, enjoying the feeling.

"Get it ready baby, I'll be back in 5 minutes" she shouts pretty much in my face, before she runs off. She has a mission to accomplish.

It took her a matter of three minutes to sort everything out, it was a big accomplishment for her. I heard her rummaging through the bags and eventually shouting at the fridge for not being big enough to fit milk, I didn't realise we'd bought milk with us. With the food packed away and me already in the bath, I heard hangers squeaking in the bedroom.

"Do you want your clothes by colour or style?" She shouted, despite living together for a while. I still can't get over her need to organise things.

"How is it normally at home?" I question back, already knowing it'd slightly annoy her.

"It's neither because SOMEONE doesn't want to follow the organisation list we have in the walk-in" she mutters, it sounds more like a snarl.

"I'm sorry bambina, but I don't understand the color-coding and why each season the whole layout has to change." I reply quietly. She walks into the room as I speak and she only rolls her eyes, purely seeing I don't understand the 'logic'.

"We change it seasonally so that it's easier to choose things that are appropriate." She explains further.

"I can still find my clothes if I didn't have everything abiding by your rules" I whisper and she gives me a pointed look.

"No more clothes talk now that we're both naked. Move forward so you can lay against my front" She orders in her very attractive 'captain' voice.

We were in the bath for about an hour, constantly refilling the hot water so we wouldn't get too cold. It was calming, there weren't many words shared but looks and gentle touching as we cleaned each other's bodies.

After the bath, we'd climbed into our bed and snuggled together. From the corner of my eye, I could see that she had organised the clothes to match her organisation chart from home. I couldn't help but smile at her idiosyncrasies. Within mere seconds, we'd both fallen asleep.

MAYA POV

Unbeknownst to Carina, I'd had this trip planned for a few weeks, I'd come up with an idea. I didn't know what she'd think of the idea, so I took her to the cabin in the woods. Now, that could sound like if she disagrees, I could easily shoot her and hide her body. I mean, I won't do it but I think it would be surprisingly easy. People hunt around here; they wouldn't suspect a thing. I think my thought process has wavered slightly.

Anyway, I want to marry Carina, in a place that's of importance to me. I don't really care about having the team there to celebrate with us, maybe in the future we could hold another wedding. But I want to marry her today. I want to love her for the rest of our lives.

"Why are you awake?" Carina's voice made me jump from the chair I was sitting in, I'd been up since 5am planning everything for her.

"You know, I get up early" I stated in hopes that she wouldn't think anything of it. And thankfully, she just rolled her eyes like usual and threw herself onto my lap. Within seconds, I'd lost ownership of my coffee as she'd almost chugged it.

"The bed was comfy, the view is beautiful from here" she said after a few minutes of silence, we were looking through a window towards the frozen lake. There was frost on the trees and condensation on most of the glass. The wood burner was definitely doing its job at keeping us warm, I'd say the blanket was doing something too, but Carina had pretty much turned herself into a burrito.

"I'm glad it did, the view is amazing no matter the season" I replied and again silence ensued.

"So, what are we doing today? And if you say hike, I will drive back to the city" she exclaims randomly.

"What if I wanted to take you on a hike? You don't know your way back to the city" I whisper, and she turns her face to me with an annoyed expression gracing her face.

"Well then, I'd make you drive me back to the city" she says with a big smile on her face as if she'd won an imaginary debate.

"Luckily for you, a hike isn't in the plans. I actually have a few surprises for you but that all depends on one thing. Do you want to get married today?" I asked carefully, her face contorted into a lot of emotional expressions before she started sobbing loudly. Almost wailing. I didn't know what to do, the complete change in emotions only confused me. All instincts on how to comfort someone changed into me stupidly patting her shoulder and repeatedly chanting "there, there" in a weird voice.
